Smile On-going problems!

Hello, I have a 89 hatch single cam with three inch straight exhaust and a Toda racing cam. I recently have had a few issues with my car.

1. Car occasionally wont start and begins to small like gas. I wait about five min and it starts up perfectly.

2. Around 2-3k rpm the car lags and then quickly accelerates to about 5k and will not go any higher than that. I though it was just the cam that made it accelerate like that at first but I'm starting to think I'm wrong.

Any info will help!! thank you

hey. check your ignition coil for the starting/smelling like gas problem.
my 240sx was doing the same thing. i changed the coil and she started everytime.
as for the second question. i honestly dont know. mine would drive fine until 5000rpm then it would be like it was hitting rev limiter. i found out that i had a massive boost leak and that fixed that problem.

One out of a junkyard. Alternative, OEM Nissans seem to last for 15 years. Or you could go with a blaster coil. The latter will take time and dismantling crap to get to work, apparently.

What would I have to do to make a blaster coil work on my car?

Smile

Hey everyone thanks for the info but I got the problems fixed. I lead that a coil will never malfunction it will just stop working and that is very rare. My car wasn't starting well because I had about four vacuum lines disconnected and my timing was advanced all the way. My buddy was able to re align the distributor and correct the timing and now it's fixed. Thanks for the help everyone and I hope what I learned can help someone too.
