My RB S14 Build Thread Updated 1-9-2015, pg 2
Blew out a tire on the highway and did some minor damage. I didnt have time for it, so I put it off to the side and bought a truck. Truck is good, so I decided to build the old 240.
Found a nice spot to work on it. Little tight, but it will do. 7/10/11: Lots of heavy drinking this weekend as usual, but still some progress. Got rid of the body kit and the damaged areas. Some rust here and there, but its not too bad. 7/17/11 Got the motor pulled. Finally, been slacking and ****ing around half the time. I am expecting the new motor tomorrow, and will have some more updates then when its unpackaged. The EFI harness gave me a bunch of **** so I left it for now. There is alot of connections and misc **** going through it for the ABS/cruise etc. I will probable have to take the dashboard/blower motor/evaporator out. Ugh. Also, the rear bolts/nuts for the driveshaft are frozen, so I'll have to grind those off someday this week. This is for sale. Runs good. Little bit of timing chain noise. No smoke. Pulls strong. I think around 170k miles. Motor is delayed, won't be until until tomorrow. Jeez you guys are killing me lol. First, I made some waffles. Those are cake batter waffles if your wondering. Then the motor came in and the first thing I got it ready for was the compression test, but someone beat me to it and had pretty much everything loosened for me. I got this on all six. Which was nice. I sweated my ass off in that building, which sucked. I need A/C. And another couple pictures for ****s and giggles. I'm gonna begin cleaning everything up this weekend, the car and the motor. I still need to order a gasket kit, mount kit, and awholelotofotherpartsidonthavethemoneyforrightnow. I'm going to keep the AC, surprisingly. It shouldn't be too hard to do correctly, which is seemingly rare to read about. Been really hot so I have been slacking. Got most of the wires off everything, since the wiring will more then likely be the most time consuming part of everything. RB looks alot better without wires. Some gauges that I will need. Also ordered a entire rebuild kit from Nissanparts.cc with the oil/water pump. Later I found the dipstick and tube are broken along with the fast idle valve(snagged the KA one since its the same), so I have to order those too. I will remove the rest of the crap from the engine bay this weekend and hopefully have the small rust spots fixed and the engine bay/undercarriage painted by next weekend. Engine bay is almost stripped. I'm seriously so sick of this heat. I see the rust, it will taken care of. I had to make an adapter plate for the engine stand, but it works. The heat seriously pissed me off, and I had to kick something. Messed my foot up a little. I know, I have weird ugly feet. Small update today. Got the engine on the stand. I thought it was going to break but it held up lol. Some of the accessories removed. I have to graft the KA a/c pump on there. Then I scrubbed the **** out of the engine bay. I had the wires and the engine bay fuse box looped over the fender. I decided I wanted to disconnect them from inside the car. Upon peeling back the fuse box kick panel, I realized what a cluster **** it is under there and decided that I want to eliminate that whole shebang from inside there. Its a ****ing ugly birds nest of wires and half of the **** can be routed on the passenger side of the car anyway, so thats another project I will be documenting for you guys. I decided to tackle repinning the M63 connector. I did it at my house and recorded all of the information and even made a guide(A/C and everything), once the car is running I will release it for everyone to use. This swap is significantly easier on an S14 due to the M63/F3 connection. Pretty much the only thing that needs to be done is repin the connector and the car will run. And done. Next comes the rust removal and general grunt work of prepping the chassis. I am still waiting on my rebuild kit for the RB to come in, along with the dipstick/tube. Also, buy a detroit series 50 engine, I know you want one. Last edited by 240Shwag; 01-09-2015 at 08:24 AM.. |

Yeah, but I can't find one. I placed orders for them at multiple dealers, and they all canceled my order. I can't find one locally or even on these forums.

Spend some of my lunch break with the lower wiring harness.
Cut my finger with a razor, didn't know they could do that. All unloomed. Looks like a mess. Going to have to change some of the plugs by the fuse box to the KA plugs. Finger by the end of finishing lol. |

I got the motor from Venus Auto. I know I know, but they sent me a motor with good compression and an uncut harness and threw in both crossmembers, driveshaft, cluster, and some other goodies at a reasonable price. I am either going Syko mounts or DIY solid billet mounts. |

Spent another couple hours with the car after work.
This cluster **** really scared me. Before: After. Much better. Broke the mother ****ing windshield with the dash support bar. New windshield too ugh. Lots and lots and lots of wires. The car when I was leaving. See what happens when you don't run mud guards and fail to clean out the fender regularly? The start of my (re)wiring spreadsheets. The work never ends. Nissan could have layed this all out in the FSM with a large foldout, but someone must have been drunk that day. |

Its been about a week since an update. I'm still waiting on the balance of my rebuild kit for the RB. I removed the majority of the interior and I'm stripping the sound deadening.
First I tried some of that air in a can shit, upside down, it worked okay. Then shit got serious. I got 10lbs of dry ice. I forgot to take pictures after that lol. Sorry. It worked really good though but I waited too long and didn't get it all so I will try again this weekend. Got the rusty ass battery tray removed. Middle finger looks pretty small here. Idk whats up with that lol. Also, a customer of mine is going to give me a older miller tig welder, so I should be starting that project soon once I get it up and running. |
