Anything I'm missing? RB20 Swap into S13.
Considering swapping an RB20 into my new hatch. This is the parts list I've came up with, I'm hoping someone who has done the swap can let me know if there's anything I'm missing? Does the stock power steering line bolt right up to the RB pump?
Please no RB20 bashing, I know everyone thinks they suck blah blah. I've never had one and wanna try it out. So I'm going to lol. Budget doesn't allow for RB25! Okay so here is my list: 1. Parts to get the motor into the car - RB20DET Motor/Tranny/Ecu - Downpipe for RB in S13 - R32 Crossmember - Using stock 5-speed driveshaft - Using stock mounts 2. Replace before install - Water/Oil Pump - Timing Belt/Tensioners/Idlers - Clutch/Resurface Flywheel or replace with lightweight - Belts - Plugs 3. To get it running - Wiring - Electric Fans - Throttle cable bracket - Tach adapter |

For your tach, you can actually go to a salvage yard and get a j30 tach and put it in your s13 cluster and it will read just fine. U also need an intercooler kit, upgrading to a walbro pump wouldn't hurt, boost and oil pressure gauge,

you need to weld a hitch to the rb20 directly on the crank then attach it to your boat so you have a anchor
btw go with the sr20 less cylinders less problems in my oppinion |

I didnt include the intercooler kit in that list cause I already knew that, and I have a walbro at the moment so I'm good there. Forgot about the J30 tach though, thanks!

The last time I checked, RB20s go for less than redtop SRs go for, anywhere between $1k to $1.5k (engine sets) depending on where you get it.
Get a radiator too. I am using a Mckinney Mount kit for my RB25. I'm not sure how much steering shaft clearance you'd have using the stock RB20 crossmember/mounts. I've seen people say they notched the turbo elbow to clear the shaft. Also, get a skyline DP or you can use an SR20 one and mod it to angle up higher. |
