96 S14 starting problem in warm weather (5 Speed swap)
I've had a starting problem with my 240 for quite some time now and I can't figure out wtf the problem is. Started out by having to turn the ignition 5-10 times, sometimes a few more hearing that clicking noise and then it would fire up.
It's now turned into just randomly not starting at all during warm weather for anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour, and just keep hearing that clicking noise. It will not do this at all during the evening/night time. When it first started acting up I put a new starter in to see if it would fix it and it was still doing it(5-10 clicks or so and start up). So I put my old one back in and tried an Ignition switch. That didn't help either. After a good 4-5 months it had turned into this situation now with warm weather. Since then, Here's what I've replaced. Battery Checked relays/tried new ones Starter Checked my lower wiring harness, cleaned all the connections Ignition switch Radio, lights, etc everything works perfect when it's not starting. No dimming on anything. Whenever it does start up again it's just like a regular start up. No hesitation or anything. The car was 5 speed swapped from the previous owner btw. Never had this problem for a good year and a half of owning the car though. Thought of Replacing the cylinder lock assembly in which the ignition switch goes to? other than that I have no clue. Any help would be great thanks! Last edited by suprafreak1000; 10-20-2010 at 04:05 PM.. |
