So I picked her up today (for those of you that don't know, it's a 2002 Honda RC51), and I couldn't be happier! Yes, the seat got uncomfortable after the first 140 miles or so back home (180 mile trip total), but it's something that I think I could easily get used to. Anyways, it really does give you confidence in the corners and begs you to go faster, I couldn't believe how easily it dove into them. Thankfully my pace car (I was following, I didn't know the way home, lol) was kind enough to do a little speeding so that I could have a bit of fun in the twisties.
There's power everywhere in the RPM range, just grab a handful and off you go. It's such smooth delivery...unbelievable (although 1st gear is a tad bit touchy on the throttle...guess that's to be expected when it's so tall though)! I can't wait to get used to the bike's characteristics and I can't wait until I have fully broken it in. I could not be happier, I am more in love with this bike now that I own it, than I was when I was just drooling over them (even if it did leave my but a little bit sore in the end ). |

Indeed...this is something I'm trying to work on...I'm doing my dance attempting to summon the Sun God. Hopefully it will work and I can take an entire roll of pictures of the bike! I got 3 or 4 pictures (or something like that) up in the mountains, I wish the day would have been nicer so I could have gotten more, but it's all good. I will post pics as soon as I get them developed.

Not quite that powerful...it's a litre bike, but it's a V-Twin, known more for handling (which is what I like) than power. 120hp to the wheels, 135 (I think) at the crank. This is not the fastest bike in a straight line, that's not what it's made for...strictly a canyon carver! Anyone can ride in a straight line, but the turns are where the fun's at.
But yes, it is very very fast. 81mph in first gear, with a six speed tranny...you make the call. |

Good luck on your new bike.
I ride as well so I also know how great it feels to tear mountain trails up on two wheels. Be careful on your beast. Unlike cars, lose traction on the front tire and you're dead. Cars tend to be more fun because you can let the tires spin without any problem. Bikes are more exciting because they are MUCH more challenging to tame and control. I ride a Honda VF750C by the way. I really didn't plan on going fast enough on poorly maintained Southern California roads to use the potential of a sports bike. At least my cruiser is fast enough to burn novice CBR600's around my area...

Yeah, I think I'll pick up a wrecked gixxer for my track bike, though a wrecked 600rr would be mighty tempting! I just got back from a ride (skipping class today to go riding...hehe), I love it even more! My RC is my baby!!!
I just have to figure out how to waste some film...I want to take them all of my RC, but there would be a lot of duplicate angles. I'm thinking I should take some of my car and some of my dad's bike. And then if I still have pictures left over to take, I'll go ride the bike somewhere and take pictures of it in a nice setting. |

I'm sticking with Honda have a bunch of hookups and spare parts. I would go R6 over the GSXR for a track bike. Heck I'd even take a ZX6R over the gix. |

Getting a track bike is still at least a season away for me. The earliest I would be able to get one is sometime next summer, so I have a lot of time to research what to get. I might stick in the Honda family, but I'm just not sure yet.
