Raising rear coilovers...

Just installed a used set of Megan Streets on a S14 and need some guidance. The rears are slammed and I want to raise them, but I'm hesitant on twisting the shock body much as I don't have any indication of when they'll disassemble on me...
Is there any way to tell when I'm close to unscrewing the whole thing apart? Even if it doesn't come apart, I'd hate to unscrew them to the point where there's only a few threads left and ride on that. Unless if I'm at this point, the ride would be ridiculously high where i wouldn't want to be anywhere around.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Im not sure if knockoff parts come with instruction manuals, but have you tried reading the instructions? My fortunes came with a nice explanation of how to adjust height, and the max you can safely put them up.

Thanks Charrington. Good idea, but that's some forearm workout. I'll give that a go if that's the last resort.

Didn't see max height in instructions. Thanks.

hmm.. i also fail to see the connection between megan COILOVERS and knockoffs. cheap/inexpensive/budget/entry-level? yes. knockoff? not really.

i doubt youll raise your car enough so that they would disassemble. i thiiiink they are designed to be at least manufacturer ride height.

If you're just raising it up, there's no way in hell you'll unthread the body out. As long as you dont decide to raise the car up over a foot, you should be good.

As far as Megans being knock offs...you know there's not really such a thing as "knock offs" for coilovers? They're all made by the same fucking Taiwanese company (Section) that makese name brand coilovers. Most of the time, the only difference between them is that the name brand ones have a more stringent QA and specific valving. You ever noticed that MRs look exactly like the A'pexi?

Thanks bro. That's helpful. I feel better just raising it blindly now.

Answer!

OK feel real stupid right now, but that's ok. There's a small hole on the rear bracket that you can use to see if there's any thread left.

Thanks all for the help/
