Wow...not only are YOU lucky, but more importantly, you didn't kill anyone else. Best wishes and good luck with a speedy recovery. Thanks for sharing those videos as well. This can be a true learning experience for others and the video helps drive that point home.
Just curious...do you have the footage of when the medics arrived etc? |

^I'm guessing he fell asleep and his foot got heavier.
I've been sleepy on the road before. Not cool at all. Cramming for Final's a couple semesters ago, I stayed up the whole night. Had to go to school at 8 in the morning. Grabbed a couple coffee's and then went on my merry way. Started to drift off about 20 mins into my drive and next thing you know, I'm on the shoulder bumps. Just pulled over and took a nap. Was late for class a little but it was worth it. Best of luck with your recovery.

Glad to hear you're alright man and hope you have a speedy recovery.
If I'm ever tired I just stop somewhere where it's nicely lit and take a power nap then I'm back on the road fuck driving when you're all drowzy!

glad you're okay despite your injuries. I fell asleep once (88 corolla wagon) on the freeway at 85 smashing into the center divide after fighting the food coma. Only way to fight sleep for me is listening to weird random music every song, thinking about sex, or talking to myself about complex situations that I know nothing about. Recover soon

i dont even want to ask how many times youve employed that method...but yeah, i would have to reluctantly agree and add to that creepy tip, dont finish, or youd get even sleepier, crash, and have medics ask why you have semen on your nice "bride chair"...

Right when he falls asleep or one of the parts that he dozes off for a good few seconds, his foot hits the gas more. Watch him and listen to the car. And as for I, sometimes I do drive fast, but only usually 5mph faster to avoid getting run over lol. Which I think is the standard for everyone.

Before he dozes off, he seemed to be going pretty fast already. Remember, he crashes at about 61mph? Maybe the exhaust makes it seem like his avg. speed is a lot higher than it really is.
Ditto here on the 5 over. Just barely enough not to piss off most cops. |

I've only started to feel tired like that once at the wheel and I didn't want to fall asleep cause I had some distance to drive so I ended up just pulling over and grabbing something to eat and nap for 30 mins to get rested up some.

Damn dude, your one lucky person. lucky you didn't have a passenger or they would have been fucked. Sorry about your car, and your injuries man.
I have had moments where I will fall asleep for brief seconds while driving. Fucking scary. You must have been pretty tired to fall asleep after like two minutes of driving. |

I frequently drive to socal and back, coming back from JCCS my friend dozed off im front of me and swerved off the road, scared the shit out of me, luckily the rumble strips on the side woke him up but we were both completely awake after that.
There really is no substitute for sleep but that 5 hour energy shit is definitely a close second for me. |

Hahahah... yeah great way to keep your self awake... fall asleep behind the wheel and pray the rumble strips catch you before a wall does. Your heart will jump out of your chest and stay there till you get home
So to the OP, how's the therapy going? Tongue stitched back, broken leg/ankle.. are you still wheelchair bound and doped up on meds, or you been able to take a couple steps? Are you being held liable for the damage to the building you hit, or did their insurance take care of that? |

Glad to know you're okay. That was some epic footage.. I mean you see all of those media awareness videos of driving safely and such, but seeing footage from a fellow tuner in his S13 really opens my eyes.
I have dozed off about 5-6 times since I first started driving, luckily most of those time the lane reflectors or rumble strips get me awake again. Now that I look back, I fell asleep consecutively while driving the 18 foot U-Haul from socal to washington state. Full truck along with my dog and mom. I could've harmed both of them .__.; And about 3 months ago I fell asleep in traffic on a busy local street and rear ended someone at like 5 mph... Total fail. Drive safe guys. It's true, there is no alternative for sleep. You may be fully awake one moment because you drove on the rumble strips or something, but eventually you'll be in the same drowsy stage again. Pushing your luck is just pushing yours and others lives in harms ways.

Videos posted at the first thread and below. I was not speeding, the video shown while driving, was filmed with a 120 degree lens, I was driving 35mph the whole way until just before i crashed, when i pressed the accellerator and hit the wall at 61mpg. just to clarify for those of you who think i am speeding, the camera in the car has a 140 degree lens.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqExTsizuRQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muRoRX5n4Gw I think it was removed because i made them private, but i don't really care anymore. I have no idea how i survived, i guess I have to thank the Beverly hills Fire Dept, Battalion 1, Engine 3, Truck 4, and Rescue 2. This incident happened on the A shift, if it was not for them, the swiftness they removed me from the car, and got me to the hospital, i probably would have bled to death. |

Scary crash. Glad you survived.
Why were you video taping though? Do you record every time you get in the car?
