I want this system b/c I hear it gives great gains, and is quiet. However, if I go SR it will be kinda small (60mm). What I'm wondering is if the 80mm exhaust would really be that loud? I can deal with a little less performance now for more later.. Just worried about noise. I hate listening to an exhaust drone away while your on the highway..

I'll 2nd that its a quiet exhaust. Sounds great really.
Coastek has the 60mm on his s13 and its nice and low sounding, got a good "import racer" sound in the powerband but for crusing around (under4k) its not very loud at all...louder than stock but not very loud. This will without a doubt be the exhaust I will get...someday

Think adding a Dump pipe would gain back some of the restriction once I go SR (not for another 1-2 years I'm sure.. still got a lot of supporting mods to do.)

From what i heard, the 60mm version sounds nice and quiet, the 80mm is damn loud on N/A and supposedly better on turboed cars. So can anyone confirm that? Cuz I also decided to go with 5-zigen 80mm, but i'm waiting another 6 months till i have enough for turbo so i could put everything on together at the same time. The thing i don't like about it is the slanted look, but i guess that's liveable

Well, I just bought the 60mm version from Jspec. So we'll see as soon as it gets here.
I've also read that the 80mm is WAY loud. Even on a Sr20 it supposedly drones somewhat at highway speeds.

Sykik keep us posted on this cause I wanted the same exhaust but didnt want the loudness of most systems. I may also go with the 60mm version since it is flowing more than the stock setup.

NO NO NO........
the 5Zigen sucks ass. it's the worst exhaust ever. i would rather tape together a bunch of pop cans for an exhaust than use the 5Zigen. send it back chimp. and all the rest of you, forget about getting it, I have it so you can't. |

If I were the "buy some rice pipe" type like Travis, I would get the n/a Fireball
The other thing is that even though they are stainless, most of these exhausts don't last more than a few years anyway - at least no one I've knowns. Either the mufflers get worn out and they get really loud, they hit things (speed bumps, gators, etc.) and break, or they rust since the piping is all Midas quality unless you get an all stainless set up. In other words, it may be dead before you do the SR. |

60mm is small for a turbo car but if you are 1-2 years from the SR just sell the exhaust when you get closer to it.
On a turbo car you want to get rid of backpressure. 3" is the usual on most turbo exhausts...up to 4" with the HKS Ti Racing. Even Apex'i GT is 3.5" for turbo cars. The least restrictive controlled flow is the best. You want the exhaust to get out as fast as possible...the easier it does the easier it makes it for spool up. True you do lose a little on the low end but it depends what you want. Small turbos have good low but crap top and the reverse for a larger turbo.

I remember seeing someone had one posted in a classifieds section. The person selling it said it was the full catback and comes with silencer.
My question: Can you put a silencer in there? I don't remember ever seeing 5zigen offer a silencer for it. Is there a possibility you can use the silencer from the Apex'i exhausts and get it to fit in there, but does it have the same hole for the screw to hold it in place? Does anyone who owns a 5zigen fireball have a silencer also? If you do, its one that 5zigen sells or is it made by another company? A fireball exhaust question: When you guys receieved your exhaust did you guys get a gasket that fits over the cat? I'm buying a used fireball exhaust and I doubt that I'll get a "good condition" gasket and want to make sure I have no leaks or excessive drones. (Don't mind if it comes from the exhaust, not in the mood to hear it from an exhaust leak tho.. ) Does anyone know where I can get another one? (I assume I can ask Nissan for a "OEM gasket" but if 5zigen offers separate ones, I might as well start searching for those) Sorry for the long post, but thanks for all those who answer my questions! -Aaron '91 240sx coupe |

i really don't see or hear why you would need a silencer. i think my intake made my car louder than the fireball. it's just a nice deep sound. as far as the gasket, i had mine installed so i am unsure
