I know that the 89 Nissan Maxima clutch works on the sr. But my question is, does the pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and pilot bearing work? How long do you think that clutch would hold up on stock boost levels? And then turned up to 250hp-300hp?

Different Throw out bearing. 89 Maxima according to my records says no pilot required. That might just mean its a dealer item only. Plate works like you said. Now depending on what kind of maxima clutch you buy or where you buy it from would probably tell you what it would hold as far as capacity. Couldn't say how long it would last with boost turned up.. Hope that helps...

a stock maxima clutch?... done the pressure plate isnt going to hold 300hp. just slip.

and the throw-out bearing, u can use a normal s13 (ka) part.

When I owned a maxima (94 but the clutches are the same), I bought an exedy/daiken clutch kit off ebay and it came with a pilot. My maxima was probably doing close to 200 whp and I abused the clutch like crazy with power shifts, high rpm drops, revs, whatever. It never slipped (I only had it for 2 months before totalling the car though), but then again 200 whp is different than 250-300. I would say the clutch is the same as a stock sr clutch, so treat it like so. If you are doing stock t25 with 7 psi and don't plan on going for more power, the maxima clutch is cool. If not, don't waste your time.

Or you can always go with just an SR clutch. I am sure there are plenty of people now that produce them...Don't know why you wanna go with a maxima clutch unless your just wanna buy a autozone one. I guess thats why you were asking....?

Alot of the Aftermarket companies are selling Maxima pressure plates as (SR20DET RWD). Especially ACT, I as other forum members have seen first hand the damage that is put on the trans, throw out bearing (the engagement does not line up), etc...

We contracted Clutch Net personally, to aquire a number of RWD SR pressure plates, and test aftermarket japanese pressure plates, against US made aftermarket pressure plates, to get a good setup going. Its going to be kick ass.

In short, you can buy the right stuff now. If you are going to AutoZone it up, then yeah maxima will bolt on, does not mean it will not damage some of your setup. Especially with a 50trim etc, you will be making more power than the autozone setup will want to hold.
