i've never heard of anyone having to change a starter when converting to manual i have a 1995 240sx SE s14 and my mechanic called and said that he thought there might be issues when converting to the five speed, is there any chance of needing a different starter?

SOME cars have different starters from the standard/5-speed versions.
Your "mechanic" didn't do his legwork before assuming this to be one of those cases.

Yeah luckily he's notdoing the swap only replacing the starter, so I'm good to go with the five speed then?
