Auto s14a brake upgrade issue...need help
Hi everyone.
Vehicle: 1998 s14 with Sr20det automatic with abs The initially the had a brake problem where the brake peddle had to be pupped to build brake pressure to stop the car. It was not air in the system but a faulty bmc, the car had stock calipers and rotors at the time. I decided to do a brake upgrade as follows: 1.Replace stock calipers with R33 gtst front and rear calipers and rotors all calipers seals replaced with new seals. 2.New brake pads with same stock r33 gtst rotors resurfaced. 3.Replaced stock bmc with an abs hfm dot parts bm57 1 1/16. 4.Braided brake lines. 5.The car still has it?s original brake booster and abs system. When I did the upgrade the spongy and pumping of the brake peddle issue was solved. But now I have a new problem that I can?t seem to figure out. The peddle travel is long but not completely to the floor. When I press the peddle for braking the car only slows to a stop regardless if I?m driving slow 50km/hr or at 100km/hr and I slam on the brake peddle the just slows to a stop. It?s not getting that instant stopping power or to ?lock up? the wheels for the abs to engage. Things that I have done so far to trouble shoot this issue: 1.I swapped the brake booster with an s15 brake booster this did not work. 2.The vacuum hose and connection is good no issues there. 3.I bleed all calipers furthest one first and so on no air I?m the system still didn?t help. 4. I went as far as to swap out the abs module that did not work. The only things left to try is to change the rotors and check the computer control unit for the abs system. Any suggestions to solve this problem. The car is dangerous to drive with this braking problem. Thank you |

I'm going to bet the ABS system is not bled properly.
Also check to make sure the brake bleeder screws are on the top. Also brake bleed order is driver rear, pass rear, pass front, driver front
