SR S13 Sr20 wont rev

ok so i have a s13 coupe with a red top s13 i did a fresh rebuild and i finally got the car to start and it idles fine but when you rev it (granted my rpm gauge doesnt work) it seems to be around 2500-3000 rpms it just becomes a rev limter kinda thing i know it could be multiple things im just kinda trying to get someone to point me in the right direction whether it be the maf fuel pump or boost leak.

There's only ever been 1 diagnoses for this issue. It's called, pull codes!

IIRC, it'll limit 4-4500 if the MAFS is bad, but that wouldn't be bad place to check. You're car wouldn't start if the fuel pump was shot and a boost leak would just have it running rich and under-powered, not acting like a limiter that low.

+2 for pulling codes.

Three reason I could think of.

1.) Bad maf or is wired wrong

2.) Major critical boost leak from hell

3.) If you have an afc your in and out is set up wrong
