New to me 1997 240sx

Hey! Just bought myself a 240sx, 1997 , body seems great. It has a Black top Sr20det which he claims was from a s15.. Is there anyway to truly tell? it was just a motor swap with the hardware from the sr20.. intake manifold, air intake, turbo, etc with the 5 spd stock tranny. I think I did alright on the deal, has a few spare parts.. axel, diff, control arms, etc. 200k on the body and somewhere between 60-100k on the motor (who knows?)

From what I can tell around the maritimes theyre harder and harder to find unmolested. I believe it is the LE (sunroom, leather, etc).

Anyway, questions would be, what would be the worth of the car? seen a few on kijiji for 9-11000$ canadian with swaps, and a few that need work with the stock ka24 for anywhere from 1991-1998 from 3000-7000$ . Drift tax?

is there a serial number somewhere on the block to tell me what turbo and motor is in it?

Best way to tell if it's a kouki s14 sr/s15 sr would be to look at the turbo charger and ecu/engine harness.

Easiest way: Coil packs vs distributor. Doesn't require you to move a thing

thank you! figured there would be a stamp on the block somewhere

apparently the 6 speed that was imported with the motor was broken or something wasn't right so they used the 5 speed..

And i believe tht the s15 motorset does not come with an external ignitor , instead its part of the coils

The worth of the car could vary a ton. Just because it has a swap wouldn't push it to being worth 9-11k. If the car is well-modified, in amazing shape, and functioning perfectly then it might be worth that range. If it has the swap, black top or notch top, and is in okay shape, then it's probably worth anywhere from 4-7k. If it's beaten and abused by still alright, it could be worth about 3-5k.

The worth of these cars is really hard to determine. It really just depends on availability and what people are willing to pay. It would help a lot more if you posted up some pictures too! Congrats on the purchase!

The visual ques to determine the difference between a S14 and S15 would be, Smaller square-ish type coil packs, No Igniter Chip, ECU #, and the plate on the Turbo CHRA will actually tell you if its from an auto or manual s15 car.
Worth of the car is subjective...depending on Overall condition, suspension Mods, type of wheels, if the car was wreaked before, how clean was the swap done, does the A/C work....etc.....also it will depend on how you view those things and there importance to you...Essentially a buyer will pay for what he/she values in the car based on the criteria i mentioned above...Its a modded car so KBB and such has no bearing on its value. If you don't value the mods or the car does not measure up to your standard then it won't be worth it.
