Yes! Everybody in Europe goes ape shit during the world cup.
The German national team lost two of its primary squad players already, including the team captain. We'll see. |

I was thinking of starting this thread topic but I didn't know how many footie fans are on this site. Anyways, I support the the good AKA England and this is shaping up to be a WONDERFUL world cup for us...England is one of the faves, but I hope that they won't crack under the HUGE pressure of English fans.
Oh and I'll just leave this here... |

Atleast Honduras made it for Central America!
I usually always have faith on Argentina but now i'm all about my Quaresma and Portugal y Espana (SPAIN) June 11th first rounds correct? Lets do this! I hate England so I hope the US kicks the living crap out of them which will be hard with Rooney and that power they have.

HalveBlue, more of the world goes ape over the true sport of football. It's easier to name the handful of countries that don't care for it. I got Mexico, the US and to stay on my girlfriend's good side, Brasil.

chato, I don't understand your comment.
I've lived in both the US and Europe so I am well versed in the eternal "football" rivalry. FWIW, I enjoy both sports. I guess what I was trying to get at in my original post is that in Europe, just like much of the rest of the world (US and some other countries excluded), life grinds almost to a standstill while some of these games are going on. I just wish I would've been in Germany in '06 when they were hosting the cup. I'll hold off on my pick for this cup's winner. A lot of strong teams out there this time around. Although deep down, I wouldn't mind seeing an underdog team like Ivory Coast win. |

I was just saying the same thing you just did, "life grinds almost..." but not just in Europe. I'm often also hoping some of those weaker teams, like Trinidad and Tobago, win some of the friendly matches but when they're playing against my team its hard to wish those guys good intentions. It would be nice, though, to see an underdog win it all and have their moment.

They're not as big of an underdog as you'd think. They are in a tough group (of death) but I've picked them (in general and in my soccer pool) to move on to knock out stages. Yes, Italy won in '06. They beat France in the final.
But Internazionale isn't represented in the World Cup. Football Club Internazionale Milano is an Italian team playing in the Serie A, the first tier of the Italian football league. They won the UEFA Champions League Cup a couple of weeks ago. However, league teams do not compete in the World Cup, which is an international competition between the varying national teams. |

The teams are suppose the get the ball in advance and test it out , prior to the WC. Most teams did not take advantage. Well that's the word.

Also I was hitting corners of the goal a lot easier then usual. I gotta admit that the thermally bonded skin makes the ball look sleek! One of the better looking balls used in the WC. |
