I've got this idea in my head of making my own "sleepy/droopy eyes" controler and a custom headlight setup for my s13. what i would like to know is, how do the controllers work? is it a rheostat or something? if i can figure out how to get the headlight pod to come up about 3 or 4 inches i may be able to fabricate something that would work, and look clean.
does anybody have one of these controllers. i have seen that Pivot makes them...so if anybody has one, or knows how it works could you let me know. I am just a po' boy and don't really want to pay upwards of $100 for this thing. |

are you talking about like some of the drift racers in japan have their headlights? there is a section in 240sx.org click on the FAQ link at the top and on the left, scroll down to the 'headlights 2/3 pop up' link. he does a step by step and has a link there as well. i have been contemplating doing something similar but i want to actually take the square headlamps out and put two side by side projector lamps in there and have them only pop up like 3 inches or so. i'll let you know if i do and how it goes.

yeah, i've seen that faq before, but that's not what i am looking for. with that setup the pods don't close all the way (looks broken) i need the variable height adjustment thing because what i am planing to do is make something where i would use a low beam headlamp from the early 4th gen camaro or the older geo storms and use driving lights for high beams. with a setup like that, it only needs to go up approx 3 inches or so if it goes more, it'll look goofy. but it looks like i'm gonna have to drop the cash and do it right i guess.

There's an actual kit that they sell that varies the height of the lights.
I'm not sure how it works but like you said earlier, likely it's a rheostat... man.. what wonders high school physics are... never thought i could apply it to things like cars. |

Zeph... i've seen that pic, it's a thing of beauty...
mlsaint78... if you do it, let us know how it turns out, i asked some guys around here and thye said that it's kinda complicated, but they never actually did it... i would have a shop install it, because i could never figure it out, but i want it to. I'd settle for that a xenons. |

yeah, i've seen that pic too. it's on clearcorners.com i think. at firstthat's what i wanted to do, but i thought about it and dreampt (sp?) about it and decided that i want to do it with rectangle headlights. i think it matches the car a little better. the headlamps i want to use for the low beam measures about 4.5"x2.25" or somewhere around there. and then forthe hi-beam, i would go with something like hella's micro driving lights.
i'm not for certain tho, it's still in the air... i will let you guys know how it goes tho'. |
