I did a search here and found that not many people ask about this topic. I also did a search on the web and found nothing so far. I plan on keeping my automatic because of the horrible traffic where I live but I was wondering if there is a shift kit available for our cars???

When you say "Shift Kit"  are you talking about a kit that gives you firmer shift?  If so i have never seen one but all they really are is a piece that goes in the tranny that is drilled out just allitle bit more than stock so more transmision fluid is pushed trought that hole quicker.  If you went to your local import tranny specialist he could probably do it or tell you it is impossible.

What he is reffering to if i am correct is a kit like where yo can shift as you do in a 5 speed but you wont miss a gear they have them for a the muscel cars and such so its like having a clutchless shifter. But i dont believe they have one for our car.

The "shift kit" he is refering to is one for the trannies of old, TH350's and TH500's. (chevy) &nbsp; These kits allow the tranny to shift hard in any gear. &nbsp;Put her in "D" and see how many times you can chirp 2nd in an auto! &nbsp;I watched a K5 Blazer chirp through 3rd and take his front driveshaft out and do wheelies! &nbsp;(it was lifted 4" and had a detroit locker too &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> ).
The 240 does not have one available. &nbsp; But, if you remove the fuse for the tranny in the fuse box (I think, search amarok.org for the proper way) the auto tranny will shift just as hard as if you had a kit in it. &nbsp;Might be good for drag racing.

What would the pros and cons be of that tranny fuse removal?
anything that makes it run harder must have side effects

Sorry I took so long to reply but thanks for all the replies..Guidot hit it. That's what I mean by shift kit. I also checked out the www.levelten.com website too and I think I might look in to something there. I would like to convert to 5-speed but I deal with a shit load of traffic every morning on my way to work so that's out of the question.

The 'tranny fuse' is actually the fuse for a solenoid mounted to your driver's side inner fender. &nbsp;IIRC it regulates maximum transmission fluid pressure; unplugging it gives maximum pressure for firmer shifts.

The increased pressure will eventually do damage to the transmission.

A proper shift kit increases flow, not pressure, so there's less of an impact on durability.. in that case the only effect on durability is the faster shifts' shocking the driveline.

That shouldn't be your reason. You get used to it. Driving in LA/ Bay area trafic with a 6 puck. No problems, you just learn to drive it different. That is the way i see it.
