RB25 to Z33 6 Speed Solution?
So I had an idea the other night. I'm in the middle of a toss up for which transmission to use on my RB25 swap.
I have an old blown KA transmission that I could steal the bellhousing from, slap it on a Z32 transmission and bolt it right up the the RB. But what's special about that? Nothing! So I got to thinking, what about the Z33 6 speed? Well JWT makes a kit of course, which requires cutting the front half of the Z33 bellhousing off. Not having access to a machine big enough to do so accurately, and having to disassemble the transmission, that sounds like a big pain in the ass. On the other hand, you can get a Z33 to RB25 adapter plate from Collins. Or I could easily cut the thing on the cnc plasma table at work. BUT, that leaves the issue of clutch to input shaft engagement. There simply wouldn't be enough. Solution! Use the JWT 6 speed flywheel. It's about 3/4" thicker than the stock KA/SR/RB flywheels, accepts 250mm discs, and bolts right to the RB. http://collinsadapters.com/index.php...ter-plate.html http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/cus...asp?PartID=540 http://www.sr20-forum.com/driveline-...wap-guide.html Thoughts?
