SR weird afr readings

motor:
s13 blacktop
fmic
hks bov
s15 bb turbo
aem uego wideband
everything else stock besides the 3" elbow and straight pipe.
my t25 died a couple of months back so i decided to buy an s15 turbo i wanna go the same injector and a tune. i havent been able to get the rest of the set upso i go no other choice than to drive the car everyday since its a dd.
i bought a wideband just to be on the safe side and set the turbo at 6lbs.
Problem:
car reads 16 at cruise, --- at idle (unless my idle goes high then its 15,14).
i understand the s15turbo sucks in more air but at 6 lbs these readings seem to off to me. ppl with t25 boost 12 w no problems so wtf.
also!!!! it ramdomly starts reading perfect!!!! 12 at cruise, high 11 when i punch it and 14s at idle when the idle goes up to 1800.
i checked for exhaust leaks i found none. ive seen black smoke coming outta the car when driving so if anything it should be running rich.
i got a nismo fpr and gauge set at 43.
i stopped punching it because i dont wanna risk blowing it.
any input counts!!! thanks!!
i really wanna get the tune but i cant at this moment.
again. thanks!

Did u properly calibrate the Wideband when you set it up?
how far from the turbo is the wideband sensor?
do you still have the factory o2 sensor hooked up?

Well, i have never used an AEM wideband so i dont claim to be a know it all. But with my O2 unit, (innovate) Upon initial install you need to calibrate the o2 sensor to free air first, this gives it a base line and helps to provide more accurate afr's

You can't calibrate the AEM. The sensor is calibrated from the factory. Yes a faulty O2 can cause a car to run rich or lean. If your lean at idle I'd check for a small vacuum leak.

I hate AEM widebands, but there is a procedure you can do to verify that the sensor is working correctly. Take the sensor out of the dp and spray a rag with brake cleaner and cover the sensor. It should go full rich and stay there till the brake cleaner evaporates.
If it goes rich, then full lean AEM says the sensor is bad. It's actually the AEM's controller inability to recalibrate the sensor.

I should state that, I used a friends sensor from an AEM unit and the sensor was dead, but my WB controller is capable of recalibration. So the conclusion is AEM unit's Suck!

its not about cleaning the sensor. The brake cleaner only acts to simulate exhaust gasses to TEST the sensor...
Read on google
"how to test wideband 02 sensor" and that will let u know if its messed up.

Yes def test the wideband but I was referring to the stock 02 sensor that can cause your car to run rich or lean in closed loop

more than 20 inches away from the outlet seems like quite a distance. I thought you want to have the wideband sensor closer to the turbo outlet than that. Shit downstream 02 sensors are that far away.

The aem wideband actually calls for the sensor to be installed at least 36" away from the exhaust port on turbocharged applications. 20 inches from the outlet is just about right where it needs to be.
