Recovering deleted files from cellphone

Just curious if anyone has accidentally deleted music, pictures, etc from their cellphones and been able to recover it?If so, what'd you do?

I was helping my boss transfer her pictures from her old phone to her new one. Her old phone originally saved pictures in the phone's memory. A while back I changed settings so it saves pictures to the external memory chip, but there were a bit over 100 pictures remaining in the phone's memory. Droids are a real pain to deal with, but after over half an hour I finally figured out how to copy the folder of pictures onto the external memory. Shortly after I figured out how to transfer just the pictures, but now I had duplicate copies. I figured I'd delete the folder that was copied/pasted to the external chip but while I thought I was deleting just that folder of pictures the damn phone deleted all the pictures in her gallery. When I went back to the cellphone's files to double check the pictures on the phone's memory were still there.... nothing. Double checked the memory chip's files for pictures.... nothing.

I found a software called Asoftech Data Recovery and tried it out. Requires downloading the software to your computer and connecting your cell to the computer. The thing found all the pictures that had been deleted accidentally. The catch was after about half an hour of scanning for deleted files I received a message to transfer the pictures to the computer. When I clicked the transfer button I got another message saying I have to purchase the full version to complete the transfer.

Has anyone been able to recover deleted files from their phones without getting pushing into paying for it? If so, how'd you do it or what software did you use?

By the way, i looked at picasa and google to see if any pictures were synced but it seems none of those were set up or, in google's case, backs up everything but media. We were also told about cloud, but hell if my boss and I know what that is. She doesn't use any of that stuff.

Don't worry guy, I'll send her my penis pics again

On a srs note, the gallery shows a cache and it doesn't clear until you terminate the program and clear its cache in the Application Manager and then reboot.

Never tried to recover memory, but rule #1 is that if you keep using the phone its a matter of time before its completely unrecoverable. Usually you have to use a reputable data recovery service.

Google Recuva from Piriform. Free and from the company that makes CCleaner.

Worked great on a work USB stick that had all files accidentally deleted, I don't see why it couldn't do a cell phone if you can get it to be seen by the PC as a removable drive.

LOL. Now why would I want to save pictures of that skinny filipina with a body of a 14 year old when I got an hour glassed, juicy Brazilian bubbled gal to shot?

I found this program and downloaded it. Hooked up the phone to the computer and it took about half an hour to scan. It seemed to have found most of the pictures and transfered them to the computer. About 50 of the 350 or so pictures weren't recovered. Once the transfer to the computer was complete, only about 100 of the pictures were visible. I've been crazy busy at work so I still haven't had a chance to figure out how I can open the files that can't be viewed and transfer everything to her new phone and see if it can open the pictures. Thanks for the laughs to most of you and the advice to the rest of you.
