Dakota digital wireup post Z33 trans
I've got the converter and I'm looking to try and wire it up using the abs sensor on the dif. I'd really like to know if anyone else has done this successfully and could tell me how they wired it up.
Thank you |

I don't have the box, but plan on doing this at some point. Here's an old FA thread on the s15 sensor which might be the same?

You'll need to figured out what signal wave the speed sensor generates to set the Dakota digital unit up. It's a pretty straightforward install. Wire sensor to the correct spots on the DD and run or splice into the factory speedo wiring. Sometimes speed sensors have polarity, so verify this beforehand to save a headache later.

Find which wire is the Vehicle speed sensor wire to the ecu. Wire the abs sensor from the diff to that wire. You didn't tell us what kind of vehicle that you're working on so we don't really know. But I'm assuming you had a ka/sr transmission, I'd think you would cut the speed sensor (the one on the trans with the plastic red gear) off and use those wires.. I'm going to be using the dakota digital as well for speedo and tach on my rb25 swapped z33 trans car. sgi8e and sgi5e.
You'll also have to get behind the dash and splice the convertor into the cluster wires. There should be instructions with the converter. Find a wiring diagram and it should be pretty straightforward |

Sorry it's all in a s13 and it's a change of plans I'm going to be running a q45 diff which doesn't have a abs sensor on the snout so I'm going with the use of a god speed sensor with a sgi5e converter.

do you not have an abs sensor on the front wheels? when I wired a Dakota box up I ran it off the front so I could see the actual speed when drifting and not rear wheel speed.
