Anyone repolished their volks or gramlights?
Hey guys, Im thinking about repolishing/redoing the lip on my 57pros. I was wondering if you guys repolished the lip before, and also what was your experience, turnaround time, and cost. Also if you guys know of a really good writeup somewhere for me too look at would be awesome.
thanks |

Do it yourself! No need for someone else to do it. Just grab some really really fine sand paper, wet sand the polished lips. After that, apply some Mother's metal polish and scrub away until it turns black. Then wipe off. The more you scrub with the polish, the shiner they will get!
Post before and after pics!

FYI, gramlights "polished" lips are actually anodized. meaning you must get through the Anodization to get to the metal. Its easy to polish wheels, i've done it before and gotte na stunning finish, what i did was take down all the pits and imperfections with like 800 grit. move to 1200with wetsanding, and then to 1400 and then 2000 all wet, to get the wheel to look like it was brushed aluminum but very very fine brushed aluminum. Then i took a pneumatic 3 inch grinder with bufing and polishing wheels (do not use a DA (dual action grinder), it wont work for shit, use a grinder with DA buff/polishing wheel and polish) so now you've buffed and polished the wheel to make sure you got all of the sanding lines out, and just repeat the process... NOW, seal with a wax, and polish... and viola, brighter than when new, here's one i did for my roomate...

yea.. the reason i want to repolish the wheels is because the owner i bought the rims from had them repolished in a semi-polish clear coat finish. Im not sure how far i have to actually sand down. Heres a pic of the wheels.
