So the tapping was there then it went away and never came back? Sounds like the lifters were dry and needed oil. If the noise is gone then I wouldn't worry about it.

Yea sounds like the lifters needed oil. It happened to me too,when doing the timing belt and water pump. Lol I freaked out also, spent the whole day searching till I was assured it was just the lifters.
