lost timing on ka24e
Long story short, i removed the oil pump and dizzy without marking it and to make it worse the engine wasnt on TDC.
Now i need to know how to set timing. My understanding is that all i have to do is, 1. set the the engine on tdc, 2. Aligne oil pump with marks 3. install dizzy where the rotor points at cylinder 1. Am i missing anything? |

UPDATE!!
I got the car running. All i did was put the motor on TDC and installed the oil pump and dizzy. My problem is that now it makes a really bad noise. I did nothing but replaced the oil pump gasket. I have an oil press gauge and it says that the pump is in working order. anyway here is a video. YouTube - 046.MOV |

To me, it sounds like it coming from the cylinder head. Almost as if the valves are hitting or lifters unblead themselves. I didnt touch the chain at all so i doubt thats the culprit. I did however checked to make sure that head and bottom block where aligned properly and they are sooo im out of ideas. ill keep at it tomorrow.

UPDATE!!!!!!
car runs perfect!! put engine on tdc (compression stroke) aligned oil pump and spindle and intalled dizzy starting just before spark plug #1. Once i removed i noticed the oil pump was not aligned. Do not quote me on this but i believe when the oil pump is aligned it provides better lubrication. Anyway im quite happy my car is running now. |
