a s14 was already in TF&TF part 1. maybe the fad is only a cali thing. over here i never noticed a appreciable rise in 240sx prices. only been getting cheaper gradually over the past few years. maybe a 1k drop for zenki s14s over 2 years. i have seen s13s listed for stupidly high prices, especially verts. generally that happens with any old sports car. i think that has more to do with stupid people who list cars without checking book value. |

i typically see old two door compact cars, that could possibly be perceived as sporty by the non mechanically inclined non auto tuning public, listed for a value that is many times the fair free market determined 'book' value for the car in question. |

Fastbacks are definitely sports cars. They are the embodiment of what a non roadster style sports car should be. Coupes are sports coupe's consider sports cars by some but not by all. BMW builds sports coupes except for the Z series which are roadsters and full blooded sports cars. Now all of this is really semantics.
Basically the 240sx is indeed a sports car. A improperly marketed sports car, here in the U.S. for Insurance reasons and fear it would overshadow the 300zx. Which is exactly what the 180sx did in Japan.

maybe people finally realized a bone stock car that is almost a decade old isn't worth 4k more then one from the year before simply because it's got angrier looking headlights who cares about the classification sports car or not, we like em for what they are, regardless |

the fad hasn't passed. It won't pass untill people have something else to move on to. I have seen a few kids sell thier 240s for Evos, but not a huge amount, and 240s are still way expensive for the most part.
and sure, 240s are sports cars, the same way a celica or civic coupe is a sports car. |

Geez, might as well start a new thread to define "sports" cars... In the USA, no it doesn't fall under the sports car catagory because we're raised around Mustangs and Camaros which are "real" sports cars.
Really, a sports car is any car that you use for sport, is made for that purpose, and marketed as such. The 240SX does qualify and my insurance company seems to think so because I pay a "sports car" premium on my full coverage insurance bill every year. Here is the wikipedia definition: Quote:

its just semantics
are you guys really going to argue over this btw in NJ my s14 is classified as a 'compact car,' not a sports car meanwhile a rx7 n/a (which is pretty similar performance wise) is a sports car = $300 more / 6 months cheaper insurance = t3h yay |

Well said, but i have yet to see the efforts placed on making the transition to the RX-7 as was claimed. Or hell they can stick to corrolas as well, those things suck. Maybe even the starlet? Gone? Well just take a looka t what questions are being asked here, and lok at the register daytes along with the maturity level(hahah Im one to talk!), this isn't going any where. Focus on your cars and just be done with it. Or do what I do when some riced S chassis/or any car for that matter comes flying by you and stops to look, flip him off, or pick your nose and turn. |

i'd say not only n00bs are scared by rotaries, i love the looks of the fc/fd but dont want the hassle of having to rebuild a engine over and over again. ANYWAY, price on 86's and 240's are steadly going down here in TX. they cost around $1500 over here.
