Ka24de timing help!
Need some help here. 91 KA24DE. Starts and runs but idles between 1500-2000 rpm. Fixed all the vacuum leaks I could find, Replaced iacv, secondary air valve, maf, tps, plugs, wires, and the cap and rotor for the distributor. I also pulled off the timing covers, set it to TDC, and reinstalled lower and upper timing chains according to FSM specs. The car will still not properly time. My distributor rotor is pointing to plug #1 at compression TDC and I still can not get it in range of correct factory timing. The only way I can is to either retard or advance it past the point where the distributor can be bolted back into its correct bolt holes. Every time I try to go a tooth back or forward with the distributor, I end up being too far or not far enough again. Any ideas?! Been at this for weeks and can't figure it out.
