KA starts rough and dies shortly after ka24de

I finally got this car running after so long, now it starts idles rough for a few seconds and dies out changing the dizzys timing changes it but it still keeps dying. There isn't any rpm on the gauge cluster it doesn't move. Also the egr is being deleted. Not to mention I removed the heater core and looped it back. Would the marking links have anything to do with this? Also if the head isnt tight enough would it cause it not to fire right? Just things here and there I've worked hard to get where I am now with this any help will be greatly appriciated. Note the car is timed right with tdc and 1cyl and cyl 1 on the dizzy

If your engine starts, it's a good sign. It at least means that you're close. Egr delete may be causing your issues, Yes, your head not being tight enough would cause low compression and it may not start (this would be surprising and rare since installing a head properly with a torque wrench and proper serquence eliminates this possibility almost completely.

Some other things you may want to try

Keep making slight adjustments to your ignition timing and see if you can get it to stay running each time.

Check your spark plugs, they can foul easily with weird starting issues.

Check your injectors, they do go bad and can cause all sorts of issues.

Check your ecu for codes.

Check your maf and your O2 sensor.

keep trying things, you'll get it eventually.
