Ahh...The memories of the search for that elusive part

It was sort of a sort of a flash back day today that came full circle. A few weeks ago, I made the following two post on a new S13 OEM aero bumper that I had just received.

Today I had President's day off, so I decided to take the new bumper to the body shop to get painted. While I am loading the box into the bed of my truck, I notice a little sticker on the end of the box. It was a Nissan part number sticker with the part number that I had been unsuccessfully searching for ten years ago. I was hoping then to be able to locate a new OEM bumper. Now I had it literally at my finger tips.

Then as I was looking through my old receipts to get the paint code for the color that I painted my first bumper, I ran across the receipt for the original shipping paperwork for the bumper that I bought on Yahoo Japan through a friend who was able to buy it for me and then had to sent to me via a ship. I remember waiting months for that first aero bumper to get to me versus the week it took for this latest new one to get here via Fedex. And the Fedex was so much cheaper as well.

While further rummaging through my receipts, I found these old catalogs that I had also bought in the hopes of finding that elusive part number.

After removing the bumper from the box to get painted, I decided to NOT throw the box away and to just keep that original Nissan box to store my first aero bumper in. I guess I can almost say that this latest bumper was a BNIB (brand new in box) item.

By the way, as I was thumbing through that Nismo catalog I saw something that I never noticed before and have never seen on our cars yet. Look at the suspension and see parts 118 RH and 119 LH and 117 and all the assorted parts around them. I never realized that Nismo had offered these parts before.

Anyways, it was a cool trip down memory lane for me today.
