interesting. I'm currently running a gt3071r .63 and S4 cams. The power is great once it kicks in, but I hate waiting for it.

I was thinking of changing the turbo to gt2871r t3 housing .63.

How is the spool on that compared to t25 .86 A/R

It's hard to know the difference because a lot of things are different on my car now, but when I was running same turbo w/ T2 .86 iwg...hitting 18lbs was around 4200rpm. The actual T3 .63 house might be bigger than my housing. ATP states my housing flows like a t3

There's 510s here with bottom mount SR and RB26s in them. I'm sure you'll be fine

Don't waste your time doing all the hardware or head gasket until it needs it. Lots of guys make 350whp with all that stuff stock.

Just leave the insides of the engine stock dude.

Nah I'm sure if you brace the top mount, and have a flex pipe on your elbow the Megan will do fine.

Don't go metal head gasket on a stock bottom end with arp head studs.

Would you rather a rod go from pressure or a head gasket? Stick with OEm paper.

I've been searching this thread without much luck as too how far can i push the motor on a stock head gasket.

Car made 320whp at 15psi, but would like to go for 16-18psi. Using 555cc injectors, havent logged the DC's but probably getting up there.

Next stage of upgrades will be: Metal HG, Studs, Inatake Manifold, Cams and 740cc injectors. Hopefully, it will make close to 400whp at 20+ psi

Detonation will pop a head gasket long before hp will. I dont know why anyone would crack open a factory engine to replace a head gasket that isnt blown.

Why? Is there something wrong with it? Your motor do what you want but I would never crack open a factory sealed motor unless I had to.

These aren't 302's lol

Once you take the head off, and let the JDM fairy dust out, it'll never run good again. Fact of life.

Seriously, don't replace a head gasket until its broke.

And just so you know, if you do your wiring, fuel lines, vac lines, and install clean enough, it should only take 30-45 mintues to pull the engine and trans out...

I'm happy too see post's like these, as they are the rules I build by.
Also we could use a head gasket database, with images to compare old, failed or just used head gaskets. MHO

You can make 400whp on the stock head gasket just fine. Been done plenty of times. Just make sure you have a good tuner. There's really no need to change your headgasket/studs until you pop the stock HG, it would kinda be a waste of money to do before hand IMO. If you have the funds for it already I would order it ahead of time that way if/when the stock HG goes. You already have ARP's and a metal HG ready to go on.

Also a intake manifold is pointless if your not making 400+. You gain top end power and lose your low end tq. (It does make your engine bay cleaner and cleans up the VAC/Fuel lines tho)

are you guys running adjustable FPR's? what is your setting at?

just picked up a nismo.

I have a walbro 255, and it's currently at stock setting. i can't check, but i have another FPR with a gauge on it. i might just hook it all up, though it's unnecessary lol.

it is one of those ebay type's, it's from DNA motoring. has a gauge so i'll at least know what PSI i'm at.

These guys are correct about the OEM head gasket, that thing will hold a hell of alot. I've been running the same SR engine for about 3yrs now with multiple different turbo setups & alot of abuse and it still keeps taking it. Have ran the T25/T28, 30R and am now currently running a 2871R. Have had issues in the past with wastegate and ran infinite boost a few pulls, some overheating issues and still this engine keeps taking it!

I know an aftermarket head gasket/studs is a great upgrade, but atleast wait till you blow yours. DON'T FIX IT IF IT AIN'T BROKE!
I'm just waiting for mine since I already have those parts on standby lol.
