I need to know how many people in the NoVa area would be interested i.e. would be able to cough up the dough when the time comes.
Here's an update. So far the diff kit is $795 the more people that buy the less expensive it's gonna be. I don't know what kind of discount their will be yet but I've been told it can be as much as %40 off! I still have to see whether this distributor will be willing to ship or not. If they are then we can do a huge group buy. Like I said before the more people that are in the more money we save. If you have serious interest please reply so I can go back and say "I have "X" amount of people that are willing to buy. What kind of price can you give me." Thanks Jed |

No time frame. Not yet at least. I haven't had a chance to talk to the distributor as of yet as soon as I do I'll post some more info. Thanks Jason I'll put you on the list. |

I'll need a timeframe for this b/c I might pick up a used Cusco 2 way. It would take about 2 months to arrive though.
This NISMO piece is a mechanical or clutch pack unit? I don't want the clutch based LSD... Keep us updated! |

So far with 5 people the best price I could get was 700 w/ a possible frieght charge. We would all prepay at the dealership then pick up in two weeks when they arrive. There's no time limit. It's all up to us. We decide when to go ahead and order the units. Once this local deal goes through they are willing to extend the group buy to the rest of america. With 20-50 people the price would go down substantialy. People would end up picking up their units at their local dealership. I just need 5 concrete buyers. Then I can go to them with a list of people and negotiate for a better price. |

I am 95% sure the NISMO 2-way LSD is a MECHANICAL diff.
I would considering getting in on it if it goes "national" and especially if the prices comes down even more. I will keep watching to see what happens. |

erm i've heard (i think from club 4ag) that all jdm lsd's are made by the same people and just remarked except for the kaaz units. this includes nismo and cusco. IIRC the writeup said that the kaaz units are also built much tougher. maybe you should look into possibly getting a kaaz unit because i think they are in the same price range starting.
i'm still looking for an affordable lsd so keep me informed; if the price is gets low enough i would probably get the nismo unit. |

That's why I'd rather have the Nismo unit. Plus the nismo comes with eveything except pumkin. Kaaz comes with guts that's all. You still have to buy output shafts etc. In the long run Nismo would be cheaper. |

Cusco and Kaaz are the ones that are made with larger plates. Kaaz is available in 1-way, 1.5-way and 2-way. Kaaz only includes the diff because they have different models to fit your existing shafts, whether they are LSD or non-LSD shafts. I am almost sure that the Nismo LSD that you are looknig into is a clutch-type LSD. It is one of the most popular LSD's in Japan among drifters. For a "mechanical" or rather a helical LSD, you will be spending a lot more money.

Nismo sells a 2 way "mechanical" diff. Jspec sells them for ~$950. I'm not sure if they even make a clutch pack diff. Chances are this buy is for the mechanical one. If it is let me know I'd definetly be interested in a little while (once I can get the cash together) if it is the mechanical diff, and they can ship on a national level.

Hey guys. Just wanted to inform everyone that I'm still working on this. I'm waiting for 5 total people (including me) to step up and make commitments if this goes through. Easier said than done
So far the price is a $700. I haven't negotiated a price for 5 people yet as I want to go there with a list. (Gives me better leverage). Once this 5 group is done, they will start working at this on a national level having you (the buyer) pick up the unit at the closest dealership to you. Please anyone who's seriously interested email me at [email protected] I will wait a couple weeks (until I get the funds ) then go with however many people I have. Thanks Jed |

Sorry guys, due to lack of interest this group buy will be cxl'd. However if anyone in my area still wants one I was still able to retain a good discount for people that say their from the 240sx club of america.
Maybe in the future we'll be able to bring this up again. Thanks Jed |

To tell you the truth, the one reason I didn't jump in on this is the fact that there was no identification of the diff. I KNOW that the Nismo diff is a clutch-pack diff. People seemed to keep throwing around the word "mechanical" like it's actually definitive. The "mechanical" one that is described on JSpec is not helical/Torsen, but clutch. I personally would like a Nismo 2-way clutch diff, but this looked like it was going to unravel from the beginning because even the GB organizer was unsure of the product he was getting.

Upon doing some research I found that nissan motorsports and nismo of japan sell two different Diffs. Nissan Motorsports sells the 1.5 LSD while nismo can get both 1.5 and 2 way LSD's. My contact at the dealership did not know whether the LSD he would get would be from nissan motorsports or from nismo. He also didn't know whether it would be 1.5 or 2 way. Upon hearing that I promptly told him that until he finds out exactly what he can get I would not buy nor have anyone buy from him. I apologize if I wasn't sure of what kind of LSD they were selling. I was under the impression that these were nismo 2way Mechanical LSD's. I will keep working on this group buy, because I personally want one. So hopefully I'll have something set up soon. Thanks Jed |

I know the group buy is now off, but if you can work this out in the future, I would definately be interested. 1.5 or 2 way works for me. I'm still undecided on the clutch vs. mechanical, but I could be easily swayed by a good price.
I'm in Cincy, Oh, so local pickup or shipping would be nice, but if the price is right, I'd drive over to Virginia. Keep me posted if you find any more out: [email protected] Thanks.
