Go with a hks hi power exhaust. Had it on my s13 with a sr20 and it was one of the quiet exhaust I've heard. It's not loud while idling and cruising and when you get on it then it gets pretty loud like it should be.

Install a catalytic converter if it does not have one. Even a high-flow one will make a bigger difference in reducing noise than any exhaust.
As far as a catback, a Fujitsubo, Nismo, or any old school one would be great, though since those may be difficult to find, the HKS Sport seems to be a nice stock-looking exhuast. |

I ran a HKS hi-power on, KA24de, sr20det and a KA-T setup, it is NOT QUIET. Its clean deep sounding exhaust but I would not place it in the category of quiet esp if your NA.
I have a Fujitsubo exhaust on a sr20det, and that is quiet you can barely hear the car idle. Apexi Noir is another option. |

Got a HKS Sport for a great price at Enjuku recently. Have had it installed a week on my NA KA and I love it no harassment from the law so far. We'll see though as I live in a pretty hot area. I just keep it under 3,000 if I see a cop and I'm usually fine, if I'm feeling too sketchy I just clutch in or drop it in neutral. It's louder because it's 3" piping but the OE style muffler really helps alot. Looks close to stock and super clean, when you let the rpm drop below 2k it gets little pops and crackles that sound so good imo.
It feels a little less responsive than stock exhaust I will say (not sure if this is true just how it feels imo). I felt the same way but worse with my friends cheap no name CAI that had a Spectre filter and ended up giving it back. Better driving experience no doubt though. As for speed, not sure if I go too much faster with the 3" piping as I haven't had the urge to max out all my gears lately lol. Very good exhaust for NA daily I would say though. |
