Every time I get gas filled or not, I have very difficult to start the engine for some reason.. I do not think I ever had this problems in past...

and today my battery died after try to crank many times at the gas station..

Just wondering what might cause this issue... and trying to get opinions from you all.

I have S14 SR20 550cc, Denso SupraTT fuel pump, heat range 9 spark plugs...

Though hotter plugs were the cause so I tried with heat range 7 but still difficult to start.

and reason why I use heat range 9 is, I was instructed when I got tune from Frank @ Boso. thats all it is..

Oh BTW, I started smell gas fumes alot after driving recently.. (5~6 month?)

any thoughts people?

I had this issue. Turns out that my fpr was set at a high setting dumping too much fuel. Get a fuel gauge

but I have stock FPR... should not be dumping too much fuel...

Sounds like you have some kind of fuel leak...plus your battery may be crap.

On my beater Sentra I used to have, the filler neck rotted away and there would be a really strong fuel smell in the cabin.

turn ign on and look around near fuel rail. for any gas leaking out..

In addition it seems i have a bad alternator... or a bad battery either...
battery does not last long after car sits few days even after long drive battery does not get charged much at all...

i have an extra sr alternator.. came off a redtop.. but normally its the battery that goes bad/combined with bad grounding of alternator

You can usually get both tested for free at an autoparts store.

...or you can just go out and spend the money replacing things you might not need to.

Just out of curiosity, what turbo are you running? 9s seem a way too cold for any kind of turbo you're running with 550cc injectors.

check for parasitic drain on your electrical system. you might have an accessory that is not turning off(stereo amplifier, stereo, alarm, dome/trunk light).

or he's running a tiny little battery to fit the engine bay with all the intercooler piping in the way because he didnt want to relocate a full size to the trunk like he should have =)

i dont know, just guessing

but if you do have a small battery, your alternator will go bad sooner than you'd like cause its constantly having to work to recharge that tiny little battery that barely holds a charge. ALWAYS best to get a full size in the trunk esp if its your daily driver.

regarding your fuel smell. did you replace your fuel lines since you've gotten the car? i had to replace all my lines on my S14's because they were old and cracking. i smelled fuel in my zenki so i hunted down a small leak in the return line going to the tank. i think one of the first things you should do when you pick up a 13+ year old car is change out the fuel lines. cheap and not hard to do. so much can go wrong when you have fuel issues.

I have an extra alternator my self and just picked up battery from Autozone and it appear to be fine.

I have a S15 turbo and Yes I am aware of people do not understand why I am running heat range 9 spark plugs too.. It's just stuck in my head due to Frank's recommendation. That's all.. haha sorry for not having better excuse..

I do have an issue with Alarm however, I do not use them anymore. I just left the car "Un-alarmed"

I have a dry cell battery in my trunk which larger than stock 240sx's battery.
and as far as fuel smell... I replace fuel pump sock 6 month ago that's about it...

I would say it's more fuel smell from driving (exhaust) than actual fuel smell

How much horsepower? I would stick with heat range 7 spark plugs... Maybe heat range 8 if you're 300hp+ but heat range 9 is not recommended. Once you get your battery / alternator situation figured out, make sure your coolant temperature sensor is functional. This is usually the #1 cause for not being able to start your car up after shutting it off.

250whp (Dynapack) I am going to try to get alternator check tomorrow.
coolant temp sensor is working fine.. I get to see temp reading from commander.
