need help getting oil to head
Okay guys need some help so I can stop scratching my head and start driving this thing..so I bought a type x black top sr off my buddy who started building it 5 years ago and never finished and im not getting oil coming from my squirters and you can hear the cams smaking. Heres what ive done so far any other thoughts would help out. It is not a dented oil pan its a brand new morso pan. cleaned the squirters awhile back when I bled the lifters. Its not leaking any oil and I put new rtv on the oil pan and the oil pick up. I dont think its the pump either because when I take my oil filter (also brand new) off of my relocation kit and crank the car oil comes flying out. The only thing left that I can think of is that seems how the motor sat for about 5 years its got oil gunked up somewhere but I thought that would cause high oil pressure and my light would not be on but it just stays on. Is it possible for the pick up tube to just crap out? Agin any help guys on possible ways to fix this

Your oil light is on?
Stop the guessing game and check oil pressure. Just like a motor with super low compression can still sound like it's making compression, that doesn't mean it's correct.

Then the first step would be checking oil pressure.

Here's what I would do. Lube the cams up with oil or cam lube until you decide to tare it down or it fixes itself.
Remove valve cover, spark plugs and unplug the cas remove fuel pump fuse. Unbolt the oil squirter tubes wipe off any oil around the oil hole. Crank over the engine, should see oil if not, get a medical syringe and suck out the hole avoid blowing into the hole. Id probably tare it down, if that doesn't fix it. If oil makes it out the oil banjo hole thingy and not oil tube squirters, then clean them use a pin or needle to clear the holes. Or buy new ones
