having a twinturbo z would be badass for cruising the highway but they are hard to work on and heavy as hell. since i have a 240 i guess i'll stick with it....

Well I know your Z would own my 240 in straightway acceleration...But I have no clue about corning,I've never driven a Z,or ridden in one thats being ran hard,...I imagine since they are pretty heavy...and since 240's definitely got it going on in the twisties...

MMMmmm 300zx tt
I prefer the 240sx because it is light weight and more tossable fun. But DAMN the 300zx is the most amazing car I've driven. t4's at about 16psi push you back in your seat a bit super flat GT like handling very very fast but not quite as nimble as the 240. I like em both but my vote goes for the 240 and taking the money saved from not buying the Z put into making the 240 faster than the Z

I don't know why this was asked on a 240 forum?

But I like 240sx fine for now.

The fairlady has been my favorite car until the S15 came along, still I'd rather have a z then my 240...It seems like 240's are going the way of the civic (everyone is getting one or has one)..Maybe it's just cause since i own one now i pay more attention to 'em but seriously...I see them everywhere..Z seem more unique to me (Which i like).I rarely see z's especially modded ones...I know they might not be as nmble, insurance will be a lot more, and so will maintenance (then the 240)but I like the styling of the Z more..And the TT's will cost a lot less to make fast.Hell just and exhaust on that thing will make decent power. It might be heavey but you can always put the car on a diet (every little bit of weight lost will help the car be more nimble)...Since i can't have an S15 the next best thing for me will be a Failady Z..
Note: I didn't mean for the last line in this post to rhyme |

I've owned 2 Z32's & 4 S13's. The Z is a lot nicer of a car to start with, if you keep it fairly close to stock. The biggest downside is how damn difficult & expensive it is to work on. There's literally NO room in & around the engine/engine compartment so heat & a lack of quality weatherproof electrical connectors, combined with the high cost of preventive maintenance kills these cars. I sold my two Z's & bought a 180SX when I was stationed in Japan & never looked back once. I totally do not regret it. One of my good friends I was stationed with had managed to bring his USDM 300ZX non-turbo with him to Okinawa. He eventually swapped in a twin turbo setup & after going through 3 engines, took the plunge & had my buddy's shop install an RB26DETT into it. It wasn't the easiest of swaps! The RB is so long compared to the VG that he had to lose all his A/C stuff, gut the core support & still had to cut the front of the hood for clearance on the front of the valve cover. It was cool as hell when it was finished though! He brought it back to the US with him when it was finished. Lucky guy!

I like the Z better from a styling standpoint. Which is faster/ more nimble I guess depends on your modifying plans. You could always put a VQ or VH/VK engine into the Z and make it a lighter NA car. Or twin-turbo those motors and have a Supra killer. Those t-tops do add a ton of weight. They make carbon replacements for them or you could buy a slicktop if you can find one (sexier in my opinion)
I plan on getting a Z32 someday, and I don't think I'm gonna keep the VG around.

Ok having owned 10 240z's I can honestly say I was never a super big fan of the 300zx. The 240sx fastback was more true to the meaning of what the 240z was about.
Having said that a 350z to me rocks the world of 300zx. Its just such a superior car its no joke. A 350z and a GTR are on my short list. I will most likely have a 350z in the next 4 months or so.

SPL just put the Z32 back on the map finishing second at the Redline time attack at California Speedway beating out a Porshe GT2 with 600ish hp while the Z only had 450ish in comparison. Don't ever say the Z can't handle. I love my Z.
