KA24DE won't rev past 5500rpm?!?!
Ok so just recently my 97 S14 w stock KA24DE decided it doesn't want to rev past 5500rpm. It feels just like I'm hitting rev limiter. The only recent changes I've made was replacing the OD switch and Reverse switch on the transmission, both because they were leaking oil. The previous owner swapped it from an auto to a manual and installed a 96 ecu but it has been running fine since I bought it other than the check engine light due to my rear O2 sensor. I tried fixing the O2 sensor prob but i have yet to be successful. Does anyone have any idea why I can't rev past 5500? I'd appreciate any valid input. Thanks.

Fixed!!!!!
Ok so i just came across and old post with the same problem. It said to unplug the 5th gear switch (OD Switch) on the transmission wich was what I had changed right before the problem occurred. It worked and the car is running fine!!!

I think it has something to do with the ECU. I've had the same problem couple of times in my s13, which is also an auto to manual. It would come and go so i was really stumped. But right now im running an auto ecu and no 5500rpm rev limiters so far. Also when you turn your car on don't forget to let the fuel pump prime everytime.
