So I have a 90 240sx hatch, and i have notice that when i am on the freeway and take off on 5 gear i loose power and its like the shuts of but then when the rps go back to like 3000 it kicks back in. so im thinking it might be a gov or whatever that shit is called that wont let you go any faster. but then i do it again and i can go past 3500 like nothing and to the limit so i slow down and do it again nothing happens. so the next day i try it again and it does it again. what the hell i think and i tried it one more time and i could go back to the limit of the car like nothing. Has anyone had the same problem? plz help!!!

are you running a factory intake tube on the turbo?

no everything is stock. i just got the car like 2 weeks ago so thats y im asking the question but its a single cam and its all stock i have not touched anything.

clean the maf sensor element with carb cleaner and let dry for 15 minutes and retry.

does it rev past 3500 in neutral?

MAF could be a Possiblity ... if it was EGR it would hesitate and have no power, but not shut off... That is just plain wierd.

yes it can rev pass 3500 but the thing is if i shift it to 4 gears at the time it stop givng me control of throttle and shift it back to 5 it works again its really odd

dont use carb cleaner, go buy some electric cleaner so it wont hurt it. i seen a guy use carb cleaner and then he had to replace it. walmart sales what you need for a few bucks

i did on one of my old s14s...but my situation happened to be a bad maf and super retarded timing...

im with everyone else though...most likely a maf problem...

The last time I've seen an issue like this it was an SR that didnt have an upgraded fuel pump and it would just lose pressure and therefor power.

You have a KA though, so I dunno.

Wow thank you guys that worked better then i thought. it actually rides better if I gain some power or it just feels like Im not forcing the engine. But thanks again

Do you have a j30 diff and you're hitting the speed limiter maybe?

JK LOL

Make sure your inake tube is not collapsing on itself, also check fuel pressure - sounds like dying pump

false alarm it came back still doing the same thing but i mean if it were the fuel pump why would i get power back in 4 gear?
