I went in for a half tube front:
Now I think I want full tube front. What's the consensus on leaving the fender mounting points - whatever they're called up top - and reinforcing them vs cutting them off and running tubes and tabs there? And also, do you guys leave the lower core support piece or get rid of that too?

Thanks.
Very good things to keep in mind. If I ever want to go in that direction, I should probably adhere to those rules. I was referring mainly to the section of the unibody in front of the strut towers that extends toward the leading edge of the hood. It's just a street car that will occasionally see time only autox runs, hpde track days, or maybe a local drift event for fun - but nothing too serious.

Lots of different setups. Here is mine, had it for a few years now.
A few notes. The modular aspect where each piece is individual has been nice. If I crash I can replace just that one piece rather than having it all bent. We jigged the bash bars so they are easy to replace and are a good test to be sure the frame rails didn't move in a crash. One thing I wish I did differently was the inner section. It works perfectly, but the intake is a pain in the ass. Haven't really gotten a clean solution for it yet. |

Last I knew, FD rules state that you can't alter the shock towers of the car. So they tube the front from the towers forward.

This is mine, it's just some 3/8" DOM and also has two supports at the bottoms that tie into the the power brace. I'm also running hood pins, if I really wanted to I could have simply made a tab to hold the factory latch. But this way the radiator, intercooler, and core support come out with 4 bolts. |

Yes...there kit is okay...all the tubing has extra lenght so it cut to size. Not tobad but for $400(removabale rad mount bar) its on the budget friendly. I bought it cause i have no bend avaiable to me.

Customer of ours lost a boost pipe mid-slide at a show at the weekend and ended up putting his R34 Skyline into a wall. He already had a tube front but needed something a bit more substantial:
All built out of 1 3/4" PTG, however now it's a little too strong! We have had to modify it with some crumple zones so that if there was another hit, it would take the damage instead of the chassis. |
