okay so i switched out my s15 turbo for an isis 2871 non b.b. now im having white-ish type smoke but smells like burnt oil. i checked my intercooler pipes but no oil is in them. what could be the problem? thx

that would suck if it was the turbo seals i just bought the damn thing. what could cause the lines to be a problem?

maybe the lines could be leaking but its more likely that its your seals since yuo did replace the turbo. did you replace the seals when you swithced? if it was a head gasket you would notice more symptoms.

there were no seals to replace since the turbo is brand new. i checked the lines and theres no leak anywhere

could have gotten a bad turbo out of the box. they are a quarter of the cost of a garrett. is there oil in the downpipe? how long did u have it running before it started smoking (immediately after install or after 50 miles)?

the oil restrictor is the same from the s15 turbo set up -3an fitting. i drove the car about 30mins total before stuff it went down

The a/n fitting on the turbo itself IS the restrictor. The problem, potentially, is that the fitting that was correctly sized for your old turbo may not be the correct size for your new turbo.

first its not a bb turbo so restictor is not needed
second how thick is the smoke...if its mild then its burn off from turbo swap
if its really thick
i would say turbo seals....
only after u check all plugs...
loose boost coupler
and lines
if their good
turbo seals for sure
just swapped my t25 for a gt2871 non bb
had a fully blown t25 shot oil always...
now its perfect no smoke
also rev engine and watch dump pie if u see oil pool on gasket while u rev it
also turbo seals
good thing u bought new so u have warantee

thx for all the things to look for its helping me out a lot. its been raining where i live and the car sits outside once it stops i will inspect further. for the smoke its pretty bad really dense too. i do have a little blow by nothing crazy though. i havent driven it since. i will let you guys know tomorrow what i found.

Get that turbo exchange. Also verify your oil feed and return line. Since your running 3AN SS line which should be fine BB or not just make sure the routing is clean and no kinks. Same thing for your Oil return if kinked oil couldn't flow fast enough and some oil will get past the rear seals and generate the smoke from burning out of the turbine side. GL!

sounds like turbo is blowing oil. i would pull plugs and inspect them. maybe do compression check then leak down if you get weird #s. next id pull the downpipe and turbo outlet to check it out. after that id pull turbo and see if there is oil in the runners of the exhaust manifold. if there is oil after turbo but not in the runners then u have narrowed it down to turbo.

Kinda have the same problem its a newish turbo about 2
months was workin fine then started noticing thick whitish
smoke at idle an driving normal i took off intercooler pipeing
an no oil, but did have a little in the turbo so i checked
all lines an found that the oil return line was kinked almost
all the way. my question is will evrything be ok if i put
a new line on the return or my seal on turbo already out
will the smoke clear up, s13 blk top 18g turbo

sorry for the delay. i took it to a shop and they said it was the turbo was at fault. i called the company i bought it from and they sent me a new center section.

also check if ur bov is werking properly cause even a greddy can werk impropely and cause the seals to go faster then normal....
since its no blowing off rite u can get compressor surging wich sounds lie a ssq bov...
