Explosion and smoke from KA24DE distributor
I finally put my engine back together after messing with the timing chain.
I just tried to start it, and there was a loud pop, so I quickly ran over to the engine bay, and there was smoke coming from the distributor. I did align everything as best as I could, what could it be? I'm too afraid to do anything else or try starting the engine again until I get some advice. |

Pull your valve cover and visually inspect for dammage. DON'T start the car. If you dont see any dammage, check the distrobuter for damage to the splines. If no damage there, recheck your timing setup. Make sure your cams are pointing away from each other, line up your timing marks, reinstall the distrobuter. Crank the motor BY HAND till the cams and dist. are lined back up at T.D.C. Then try to start it. Post what you find.
