S14 Won't Start After Swapping Trans
So the 5th/reverse fork broke in my transmission and I had it fixed. Now it shifts through all the gears just fine and seems to be in good working order. I have re-installed trans and wired exactly as it was before, and now the car wont start.
Little background on the car: Was originally an automatic and someone swapped for 5spd. Wiring is jenky and only thing on the trans that was wired was the Crank position sensor at the top and speed sensor by the looks of it. However, even with jenky wiring the car started before I replaced it, so no idea why it wont now. Not sure why the start wont even click..It sounded like it wanted to start one time(yes, its plugged in)..could a starter somehow go bad while sitting out on a bench for a couple weeks? Makes no sense...any insight is appreciated. |

The transmission sensors and wiring won't have anything to do with cranking the engine. Running the engine, yes. Cranking the engine, no.
Use a multimeter, do you have constant 12volts at the starter? Do you have 12volts at the solenoid when you turn the key to start? Is the starter properly grounded to the engine block? A starter won't die from sitting around unless it started rusting somehow. I'm betting on an insufficient electrical connection being the issue. |
