You cant use a Motorcycle helmet, you need an SN95 or better i think, but it would be stupid to get an SN95 cuz they will be replaced with the SN2000. So basicly you need an SN2000 rated helmet.

You can still kill two birds with one stone by getting an SA2000 helmet. :P You can also use it at Speedring if it's a full-face helmet, so maybe that's killing three birds with one helmet. Err...stone. Blah. Anyway if I remember correctly, the most affordable full-face SA2000 helmets are generally about $300+. |

hi.
count me IN. OK u can't use a motorcycle helmet at the racetrack. u can use one at autocross, but for track events u must have a Snell SA (special applications) rated helmet! these helmets are different due to their nomex lining and fire resistance, unlike motorcycle helmets which are cheaper and made from different materials. i got my helmet from a shop in Oakland called Bell Motorsports. the people over there are really cool, and they sell all kinds of racing gear and if you buy multiple items, they give u price breaks. so i would recommend buying from there if possible, the phone # is (510)536-2355. there are a few websites that sell helmets too, such as www.helmetcity.com which is also based in Oakland, but i went to their warehouse and they wouldnt sell me a helmet there because they said they only do online selling. theres no store front, its just a regular car repair shop but they have a storage room FULL of helmets hehe. Sears Point sounds great! cant wait til december.... oh and if anyone wants to get together and make a trip out there to buy some helmets i'll go, cuz theres some other gear that i might wanna buy from there. just let me know!

sport II is the one i have....and i think bill has a lil personal experience with the Bell Sport II hehehe. yeah its a good helmet, a lil heavier than the $500+ kevlar ones, but HEY! it gets the job done. i prefer Bell over Bieffe cuz i tried on the Bieffe and their sizes are a lil tighter. but then again maybe its cuz i have a big ass head.

hey guys, been busy with a fucken essay for english class so i couldn't be on posting for a few days, but just wanted to post up today since i got up realy early . I have told all my so call "Racer Friends" and they all laugh'd at me and said "TRACK RACING!? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?! BETTER YET GET THE FUCK OUT OF OUR FACES" This is true of what they said to me. I was like what why? Can't afford it? I told you not to buy thoses 50 pack of stickers for your car. LOL they all got hella pissed at me and try'd jump me. Its sad really. But i guess i'll be the only one from here coming. GotDrift, hey man i'll call you up so we can go to that Gear Shop cause i need to go buy my helmet. I got 160 bucks and i don't know if i should use that for my helmet or for the track day fee. I'll just use it for the track fee and ask my parents for a helmet for my brithday (since i didn't ask for anything).
Oh also GotDrift if you want to meet up again in Modesto like last week cause i got my Other 240sx Smogged and running. I'll i need to do is get it insured, so by next week it will be on the road. heh. Maybe we can meet on a Wedesday cause my mom will be not working and taking care of my brother. So we can go around curisin or something. Let me know bro. Peace

i just talked to Bell Motorsports, and they said that they would be able to arrange a price cut for us as long as all of the helmets were placed on order at the same time. price quote for the Bell Sport II would be $255 as opposed to $298 retail. so lets get a "head" count for those who need helmets! i told her we would probably be getting about 5 people to buy and she said that was cool...we dont even all have to buy the same helmet, as long as its placed on the same order...its not a huge discount, but its a discount nonetheless...ok so who wants one?

OK im setting up a tentative "Helmet (or other miscellaneous racing gear) Buying Meet" date for Friday, November 15th. that way it gives people a couple weeks to respond and get some funds together and work out a spot in their busy schedules to head out to Oakland for a helmet (and other miscellaneous racing gear) buying good time! any objections? stay tuned for details concerning meeting place, time, etc.
PS: Bill, my helmet was a XX Large...just kidding it was a medium, you should probably buy a large...better yet, come to the store with us and try on whatever sizes u like hehe. and try on the F1 style helmets, they are super light, its pretty awesome, but expensive hehe...
