Turbo cars do best with zero backpressure in the exhaust, so...3" is just kind of a standard minimum size. Anything bigger may be overkill but absolutely will not hurt performance. It may be a bit louder that's all depending on muffler size.

a turbo car would run good and make the most power with only a downpipe..
the turbo creates all the back pressure it needs..
so yeah, the bigger the pipe the better.
plus this gives you a open door to upgrades.
you will never ever have to change it as far as proformance goes.
like stated above it may be loud.. look into a good muffler and a resonator..

hey thanks for all the advice guys, so..... i had the exhaust fitted today, didnt take too many mods to make it fit the guy did a great job and only $130 labour...Anyways the performance, well what can i say its like driving a different car! it ihas increased from factory 7lb(nz import 200sx) to 12lb just by adding the pod filter and exhaust!! Im very happy with my $280 spent. Its got 265s on the rear and skids up jus by flooring it on most surfaces lol. Its loud but dont think its "ridiculously " loud.Very happy with the upgrade
