Modern Automotive Performance Sport Compact Proving Grounds Friday - Saturday, July 10th & 11th 2009 Brainerd International Raceway - World's Fastest Drag Strip Event Schedule Friday: Open Testing / Tuning Gates Open: 7:00 AM Tech Opens: 8:00 AM Open Testing / Tuning: 10:00 AM Open Drifting: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM Car Show Registration: Noon – 5:00 PM Open AutoX: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM Tech Closes: 5:00 PM Friday Night: Entertainment Live Band / Series 5 9:00 PM - 1:00 AM Saturday: Competition Tech Opens: 8:00 AM Open Time Trials: 9:00 AM – Noon Competition Drifting: 9:00 AM – Noon Car Show Registration: 9:00 AM - Noon Car Show Judging: Noon – 3:00 PM Drag Race Eliminations: 1:00PM AutoX Competition: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Car Show Awards 4:00 PM (in front of the condos) Admission / Competition / Camping Fees Drag Race Car & Driver: $35.00 (Friday & Saturday Pass) Drift / AutoX Car & Driver: $35.00 (Friday & Saturday Pass) Spectator admission: $10.00/Day or $20 (Friday & Saturday Pass) Children ages 6 – 12: $5.00/Day or $10 (Friday & Saturday Pass) Children 5 and under: FREE! Camping Included with Friday & Saturday Pass! Full Service Campsites: $35.00 Condos: $175.00 / Night Drag Racing Information / Classes The event is open to any sport compact vehicle. No tube chassis cars allowed in competition, exhibition passes only. All drivers are required to wear a helmet certified Snell 2000 or newer. Drag racing classes are subject to change, opinions welcomed! F/R Street: This is for front and rear wheel drive vehicles on DOT tires only. F/R Open: This is an open class for front and rear wheel drive vehicles. Drag racing slicks are permitted. Motor / Open: This is an open class for all motor vehicles only. No power adders are allowed. Drag racing slicks are permitted. AWD Street: This is for AWD vehicles on DOT tires only. SC-1: Run what ya brung! 0-12.99 Dial-in bracket racing. (NHRA rules apply.) SC-2: Run what ya brung! 13.00+ Dial-in bracket racing. Modern Automotive Performance Quick 16: Qualifying will be at 10:00am, 11:00am and 12:00pm with the fastest 16 cars making up the field. If you attempt to qualify but do not make the field you may run in an alternate class. The number of participants in this field may change depending on attendance. IB-ET: Import Bike E.T. Must be Street Legal with working headlight, tail light, Push-button Electric Starting, Charging System and DOT Tires. Max Wheelbase is 68 inches. Wheelie bars not allowed. Snap back throttle and tethered kill switch mandatory. Full Face helmet (with shield) meeting Snell 2000 or newer certification, leather jacket, over the ankle leather footwear and leather gloves required. Leather pants that zip to jacket or 1 piece riding suit required if running faster than 120mph in the quarter mile. NHRA Competition License required if running quicker than 10 seconds in the quarter mile. Drag Racing Prizes / Bounties Trophies will be awarded to the winner and runner-up of each class courtesy of Modern Automotive Performance. Additional prizes may be awarded as more sponsors come on board, so check back often! Quick 16 cash prizes and bounties are to be determined. If you own a sub-10 second sport compact and are considering attending this event to compete in the Quick 16 please let us know what it will take to get you out here besides racing on the fastest drag strip in the world! Car Show Information / Prizes Cars will be judged on a scale of 1-10 with prizes being awarded for the following:
Drifting / Auto-X Information A large area of asphalt has been set aside for AutoX and drifting! Event structure and coordination will be handled by Empty Pockets Drift Crew aka EPDC. AutoX: Trophies will be awarded to the fastest participants, make sure to familiarize yourself with the course on Friday! Cone violations will incur a 1 second penalty. Drifting: A combination of skidpad and gymkhana drifting will be available. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of the competition which will be judged for style in a skidpad format. Tech Considerations: A functional seat belt and helmet are required. Batteries must be secured (no zip ties, bungee cords, etc) and no loose articles are permitted within the vehicle. Drift participants will be required to utilize fluid retention devices (sweatbands are commonly used) and have a spare set of tires available unless the vehicle was trailered to the event. Cracked windshields will not be permitted. Sponsorship Information Headline and class sponsorship is still available! You can also sponsor one or more Quick 16 bounty prizes to be determined!
