Is the NSX the supercar bargain of our day?
Early 90's NSX's can now (for a while?) be had for 25-30k in really good condition. With their great reliability, super car status and great performance is the NSX now the perfect super car for the common enthusiast? Definitely a couple notches above the 300zx turbo, 3rd gen RX7 and even the Supra turbo in exotic styling and perception, I'm seriously considering one.

I have been going back and forth on this myself for about the last 2 years. I have been trying to decide if I would be happier with an NSX or with keeping my S2000. One of the things that has been keeping me away from the NSX some though is although they can be bought for 30k now... a lot of the parts OEM/aftermarket are priced like you would expect them to be for a 90k car lol.

yawn. get it for what it is, back in its day it was pretty sweet.. If you are one who just overall enjoys automobiles and spirited driving, I say yes. They are still sexy and head turners when you see them out on the street.
Get it for its historical value.. One of Japan's first supercars, and roots back to using F1 technology when Honda was heavily involved in F1.. and Aryton Senna had a bit of input on it. When you start to mature out of fast cars, you start to appreciate the more collective cars imo.. It may not be supercar by today's standards, but back in the early 90s it was hot. I still want a 70s porsche 911, all the fanboys tell me how much better my rx7 or 240sx would be..

I wouldn't say it's that far above. I've actually seen an NSX and a Legend beside each other, there's a bit of a difference, little bit more to it than that.

No matter what vehicle you ask about, car people will turn it into 'this car could beat that car.' That is what matters, whether you are asking about an old sports car or a family SUV.
Although I am pretty sure the only way to obtain an NSX is if you are an Asian teenager and have your doctor parents buy it. |

Id say it's its a supercar. you can't justify a super car by how much power it has.
Thought the bottom end was titanium... pistons, rods crank (maybe just a rumor?) Full aluminum chassis frame, suspension and body, mid engine, designed to race.

Nope, think a vette is one of the ugliest cars to ever be made.

Here's a smashing revelation gentlemen, power is NOT everything.
I've considered getting a NSX one day when I'm back in the States, but I honestly couldn't buy an early version when I know there's the newer, better version out there, but they're well into the $50k range! For that price you can modify a better car (ahem, FD), but if I had the money to comfortably own one, HELL YES I would. I think the NSX design is just timeless. IMO, a car that handles unbelievably is just as fun, if not more than a car with a lot of power from the factory. Example, I'd take an Exige over say, a 2000+ Viper anyday of the week.

There's a car shop right outside where I work that always has a few NSX's parked. Head turners for sure, but I'd much rather have a 993 turbo or an FD. NSX's are a bit long and wide for my tastes, and the lack of turbo is depressing.

Believe it or not when it comes to suspension on the Corvette Chevy really has it figured it. The C6's especially corner quite well. I would be willing to be a C6 would just stomp a NSX all the way around. Don't get me wrong NSX's are nice but Corvette's are not only raced year after year but are still being raced and Chevrolet is still tweaking the suspension with every chassis revision. C6 also do happen to have Super Car looks ( shit they copied Ferrari LOL just like Honda did LOL) and its got power and handling to match.

Didn't Honda nick Nissan for the Mid4 design when they made the NSX?

Of course when Nissan designed the Mid4 everyone said they nicked Ferrari as well. LOL Little fun fact if you look at the shape and front end of the of the 180sx you can totally see it was derived out of the Mid4 albeit tamed down quite a bit but the heritage is there. Oh and most definitely when I saw the C6 ZR1 at the LA auto show back in 07 I was like fuck they totally nicked Ferrari. Even in the base model C6 the front end is straight up Ferrari.
