It has nothing to do with the car being responsible or not, it has entirely everything to do with salvage title reconstruct laws and inspection in Nevada, which I personally know nothing about since I don't live there, but I am suggesting that he looks into first to make sure that his motor will not be an issue because it is not a simple inspection as one deals with for registration, it is more involved and can sometimes deal with the authorities (DOT and Police) who may have an issue with his motor.... I love how I explained this same exact point like two posts earlier but you are so quick to judge and flame my response and not read that post at all
He was worried about the insurance company saying something about the engine. He will get his money for the damage done no matter what mods he has done. If he needs a reconstructed title, then I neither have no idea about Nevada's way of that.

get a lawyer and get your money and then some back.. ive been in 4 accidents all were not my fault..if they are going to total it then take all the parts off it and let them take it..in my case i had time to swap out my motor and grab all my parts..not sure whats going on with you..but first things first get a lawyer...its not your fault someone wrecked your car so make that person pay .. they should have been paying attention so now they are going to pay for their mistake.. good luck bro

yeah but if you look at my original post i was recommending that he pull the motor and put a shit KA in it just in case the insurance does total it and doesn't give him the option to buy back the car... which would suck ass if they didn't give him a fair value of the car with the SR in it, which they frequently do (upgraded the sound system in my lexus and it got totaled a few months later and they gave me partial value even though it was practically brand new)... so that plus if he opts to get it back I suggested it may be a good Idea just to pull the motor and if they give it back, great, get the salvage reconstruct done and certified and then put that mofo back in there, and if they dont give him the option to get it back, well at least you get a reasonable quote and still have the motor

Well we did it before they cut us the check. But yea I had an SR, sold that. I had probably 12k into the car and got out around 7500 including the 2200 from insurance. This was in 2005 though so car values are lower now.
