Non-religious US president?
There was a lot of talk about 'boundaries' being broken when Obama was elected.
Continuing with that theme, do you think an openly non-religious lad/lass will ever be president, or would America rather elect a non-white/racist homosexual; as long as he/she is christan; before that ever happens? Not talking about one of those extremist atheists who get offended by Christmas and make all the others look bad. Just a regular chill bro who does not make a big deal about religion, and happens to check in the atheist/agnostic box when filling out forms. |

I'd prefer a non-religious dude. Less likely for the whole "Had a conversation with God last night and here's what we're going to do" bullshit.

I would really rather vote in a nonreligious president. It is a HUGE flaw in someone's character, IMO, to believe in an Omnipotent being. I just can't take overly religious people seriously.
I had a girlfriend once who was really religious. She tried to drag me to her church. And I have no issues with people who do it to live a more fulfilled life but when people try to push their views on me I have a problem with them. so I sexed her anally and never called her again. To me it's like believing in Santa or the tooth fairy as an adult.

I don't mind whether they're religious or not.
I just don't care for it when they make a big deal over it either way. Imo, Bush brought up God a little more than I would like. Of course, it was difficult to take his babbling half serious most of the time anyway. Obama is doing good in this respect. He mentions some religious themes, but do so in moderation. You figure this is still a predominantly Christian country. Any presidential nominee who professes any other faith, or lack thereof will compromise their chance of getting elected. At the same time, talking about God too much is going to annoy some. You just have to get the right balance to be marketable. If I had to run for office, I'd probably make sure to become some born-again Christian beforehand. |

I'm not so sure it would be any different in any democractic government.
Ppl are more likely to support/vote those who share similar views to themselves. Politicians just market themselves accordingly. I'm sure if the nation was predominantly non-religious, you'd see a lot of athiest/agnostic/apathetic candidates. It's not just politics, it's everywhere It's has more to do with marketing than anything else imo. It's really not as bad as groups like the Taliban. The candidates might tell voters they are Christian, but when they are in power they don't necessarily justify their decisions on what the Bible says. Groups like the Taliban are imposing policy directly from the Quaran. |

That video is funny as shit. I just think it's funny that people protest what they don't know. There's so much propaganda coming from both sides and if you only listen to one side then your mind actually starts to decay....along with your teeth. this comes from both sides. Republicans would vote in the most religious nutcase and Democrats would probably just vote in Kim Kardashian because she has a fat ole ass. I agree that Obama has the genius to be a great president but he does not have the leadership experience to start off with a bang. I think he'll grow into that role but he also cowtows to large corps, and he'll NEVER grow out of that.

I doubt that will ever happen, too many old people who vote and they are almost all religious. I think the religious vote counts for too much for it not to be one of the most important qualities of the president.

If anyone wants to "change" this country we should start with education. you can't change squat in a democratic society when all your voters are fuck-tards!

Religious, non-religious, homosexual, heterosexual, black, white, asian, mexican....who cares. As soon as shit isn't going the way you want it to, you fuckers will find something wrong with the individual and a "valid" reason to complain anyway. This country is so predictably flighty....
