![]() click above image for full gallery of the Nissan GT-R ![]() So there you have it. Nissan's embargo on information surrounding the GT-R has been laid to waste in less than 24 hours, and we now know exactly what it looks like and what type of hardware is under the hood. We're still going to Japan next week to see the GT-R unveiled in person, and hopefully we'll uncover some more worthwhile info about Nissan's badly kept secret. you obviously know nothing about F1 paddle shift transmissions which is basically whats in the GTR. The tech for this trans comes right out of the Renault F1 car. I stated this before I will state it again. Unless you have studied these transmissions you should not comment on them being crappy because they aren't and if you say they are your ignorant.

Speaking on shifting...
Some do like the feel of having a clutch pedal and having the shifter on the side. I personally love driving a stick shift vehicle. However, the development of paddle shifting, specifically the speed of the shift and the ability of automatically rev matching the engine to match the desired gear without any backlash, has improved dramatically in some of the higher end vehicles. I suppose it would depend on what the target was for Nissan when they were deciding on what type of gear shifting mechanism they wanted for the GTR. If you want all out performance, minimizing driver error, and having 100% repeatability, then the answer is clear. Electronic paddle shifting.

I just never understood paddle shifters. I've have to drive it. How does skipping gears work? Like while cruising going from 3-5 or 4-6? If you don't shift will it hit redline or shift automaticly?

So in other words, it varies from car to car. Skipping gears-again, this varies from vehicle to vehicle. A seven speed transmission could drop from 7th to 3rd without stepping through each gear if you press the down shift paddle fast enough. Or, like an automatic, you could drop from 7th to 3rd by just putting the accel pedal to the floor. Its different for each vehicle. On others, you have to go through each succesive gear to get to the one desired.
