bluetooth headphones are meh. bluetooth also murders battery life and most of them aren't noise canceling enough if you ask me. get him a pair of Peltor headphones. i cut grass for 3 years and loved the shit out of both my pairs. i still use them when i'm at home - mom and pop are on 4 acres. i'm sure he'll manage with just regular-ass radio. lol.

i just wanted to add that i have a couple pairs of Klipsch in-ear buds with memory foam tips. they block out lots of noise without even turning them on. however, cutting the grass with them on is not nearly as nice as the peltor cans. essentially they are safety headphones with a radio.

ummm, True story?

Like the ipad on the lawnmower.

if its true and your serious, teach him the fun in cutting grass with the noise of the lawnmower. Unplugged is good sometimes, (safety)

The noise of gas lawnmower is about 90db, that would mean that the headsets would need to put out about 100db for the listener to drown out the backround noise.

Listening to music that loud for a length of time will cause irreversible damage.

Instead of buying a headset, buy some ear plugs and help save ones hearing.

Just like how people damage their hearing while on motorcycles (wind noise or music noise) without proper ear protection, the same can go for lawnmowers.

had these for a long time, but i lost them. FM only, and they were awesome.

currently have these. they're not as nice as the red ones, but these are am/fm.

if by chance you decide to pick up a pair, don't get the digital yellow ones - they're shitty. i worked with the same old crew this past summer, and the guys were having a hell of a time with them. the grey digital ones are much, much better from what i hear.

If you have good-fitting earbuds they will cut down the background noise substantially. I have 2 sets of Lenntek Sonix from Costco. They come with different size rubber tips to fit your ear and I think they are fantastic for the $20 price.
