Just curious would it be a big deal if the bung that is placed on the rear of the Valve Cover Goes to the CrankCase and then the Middle part goes to the Turbo Intake Piping. I'm just thinking for a cleaner hose routing option and since this is how its done on the S14/S15 SR anways. Thanks!

It would... cause that side bung, is on the side, as you turn a corner like all right hand turns, the oil would spill over.... it takes considerable pressure to pull oil through the top blow hole (whale reference hahaha)...
But you can make it clean like on page 10

On the 't' I used a epoxy 'steel' clay to block the front outlet. Cheers |

You can get a good seal with JB Weld as well... on the intake, but on the valve cover you gotta tap that with threads, believe or not, there is a lot of pressure that is build up in there....

So I'm in the process of doing this myself and my question is this. Will -10 ss braided hose fit on the factory oil return? The oem tube at the back of the engine under the exhaust manifold is what I'm talking about.

I guess I could give an update. No matter what I did to the catch can I had massive blow by. Compression is good, didn't make sense.
I pulled the valve cover a bit ago and found the drivers side oil squirter, BROKE. Was squirting oil right at the baffle. WTF, dunno how that broke, but replaced it and no more oil in the can. |

How do you not know?? How do you have the stainless steel braided hose hooked up at the crankcase return? Ya'll are using -10an fittings to replace the T in all the photos I have seen, therefore, the hose going down to the oem crankcase return tube is -10. Does it fit on the tube, or do you modify it somehow? Anyone?

The -10 male fitting in the stock location has a 90 deg -10 push lock fitting attached. Then -10 push lock hose goes from there down to the oem crank case breather tube.
so yeah i guess it does fit....

almasxxx-that hose coming off your side eport on your valve cover looks to be routed down to your intake piping right before your turbo. If so, it needs to go to your catch can, then to your intake piping. Read the thread and you will find the answer and pics many times over.

Your intake is sucking in un-metered air through the valve cover from the vented catch can and the open PCV valve port.
Speaking of the PCV valve, what would happen if one replaced it with a regular straight-through fitting and tee'd it into the hose going from the crankcase vent to the valve cover? It seems that would simplify the system, so both sides could be vented through one catch can. And I assume not having the PCV valve would be beneficial, since it closes under boost, which is when the crankcase is most pressurized. |

Almas.... I wouldn't hook it up that way....
It should be crankcase -> valve cover -> front valve cover -> CLOSED catchcan -> intake... Make sure its closed system else its useless, you are not drawing vacuum from the head and bottom end Send me some lovanjoel.... hahaha... Just saw some No Reservation Anthony Bourdain in Turkey! Didn't know you guys speak english that well over there!

anyone who is serious about eliminating their catch can from filling up with oil quickly. Should do this Mod. I have a blacktop sr20det , I fn hated blow by, and i hate the red/blacktop valve cover it is a poor design. the baffles are crap. I did some research. I purchased an s14 sr20 notchback. I fabricated one valve cover from both, using Front of red/blacktop valve cover and welding notch back valve cover. The s15 valve cover will not work with s13 coils. My Oil catch can has remained dry and I no longer have oil in my intercooler...The PCV can only do so much and its not enough to relieve crank case pressure.Catch cans will help but you still need to empty them . Do this Mod and your problem will go away!.

NO! route the crank case pipe to the back of your valve cover first.
Then hook up the front valve cover pipe to one side of your catch can , Then hook other end to turbo inlet.

Hey Matej. I would put the pcv to the greatest vacuum source which is the intake/catchcan... To tell you the truth, so you can pull as much vacuum as possible. T'ing pretty much always reduce flows for any fluid and gases. So no T, but to catch can....
I think 10mm is large enough because might start pulling in oil if any bigger....
