NRG Quick Release 2.0 vs 2.5
Yo,
I just installed my NRG short hub with 2.0 nrg quick release and the horn isn't working. I tried by brothers steering wheel with the 2.5 nrg quick release and it works. I was wondering if anyone knows what the problem is? Thanks |

Should have just kept your other thread going. Its your wiring more than likely because the 2.0 and 2.5 are identical, the 2.5 just has an added ring to make removal easier. Check the wheel side of the QR and make sure its all installed right and the little tabs are bent out enough to make contact with the other side.

Here we go. I took some pictures of my setup today. I got the horn wire touching the brass behind the nrg hub. I then wired the positvie and negative to the 2.0 quick release. From the quick release, I wired the positive to the horn button metal tab. I just taped the other negative wire to the quick release metal? Not sure about that one. Horn still doesn't work. Anyone know or have any ideas what I should do??

Ahh so looking at that first picture it kinda looks like the brass ring is not making contact to anything. IIRC S14s need a brass tab made to connect the horn as they don't have pins like S13s(still a bad design).
EDIT: Found this for you. http://importnut.net/steeringswap.htm

I don't think that is the problem. When I used my brothers steering wheel the horn worked fine, so I am guessing the problem with my setup has something to do with my steering wheel/horn. I know his horn button is different than mine though, he has a metal ring around his horn. I'll post a link to it.
nardi horn - Google Search You can see my horn button in the previous post, which is just plastic. Hmmm..... |

I guess my problem is, how do i ground the quick release negative wire to the horn? Should i cut the spade connector on the negative wire and wrap the wire around the metal tab on the horn??

You can give that a try, if it doesn't work you can always add back on the spade connector. That tape does not look like its making a good contact, and the metal tab could also not be making contact to the hub. I forgot about you saying the other wheel worked in a previous post when I added that link.

Finally! Got my horn and turn signal cancel working. Long story short, I gave up on wiring the horn and put my hub/quick release back together and when I installed my horn, I just put the spade connector underneath the brass pin that holds the horn in place in the hub and just squished it in. Now my horn is working. But when I use my brothers steering wheel on my quick release, his horn doesn't work with my setup anymore. Thanks for the help and info zerodameaon!!
