Im building my motor to handle 400-450 but i was wondering if oem bearings are still okay? or do i need to step up to acl's or clevite? thx

OEM will be fine. but if your a baller, Nismo and Tomei

I would say go with the clevite.Then match gind/polish the crank to set clearances to what you want based on what the motor will be used for.

OEM works just fine too,just cost more

I run Cosworth bearings in my motor... Oem, Nismo, or Tomei will allow you to set tolerances to your/builders preferences. ACL are a good bearing to run as well.

thx guys. i just bought a new crank too and i was told to check tolerances and was also told it was ready to go. i talked to frsport yesterday and asked if there was a huge difference between brands and the guy said couldnt give me a straight answer that one was better than the other. i just figured go with oem and be done with it. now if i want to build for higher power say, 400-450hp. would aftermarket bearings be the way to go?

Coating bearings would be more beneficial than actually going aftermarket. Supra guys run Honda bearings in their motors.

I went with ACL Race bearings(Five hole) from Mazworx. I've had good success with Clevite bearings in my BMW motors too.

yeah i was thinking of having swain coat the oe bearings too. ill know what ill be getting tomorrow. thx for all the input fellas

We ran OEM bearings and also the ACL Coated bearings in our race motors.

The old race team manager mic'd out a bunch of bearings and noticed slightly less variance in the ACL bearings compared to the OEM so we started using those a good deal more.
